The project was conceived at exactly 12:37pm on Saturday, December 7th, 2002.
The idea was simple. Mail a mannequin head around the world from person to person and have the experience documented through photographs and blogs. The reality wasn't quite so simple. Within the first month of launching the website (which is no longer up) there were over 250 people from around the world that had emailed me with interest in being part of the insanity!
The first head was packed up and mailed out to Chicago on April 23, 2003. The project touched down in a number of countries including Italy, Portugal, Cuba and Australia as well as a number of States here in the U.S.
Sadly, due to a variety of pitfalls the project was ultimately canceled and put on the backburner. Only now, with the discovery of VIRB have I decided the time has come to bring the project back from the dead.
A lot has changed since the project first launched back in 2003. With the growing popularity of sites like VIRB, Flickr and YouTube, now is the perfect time for bringing the project back from the dead, dusting it off and giving it new life.
