Hong Kong flicks (Angela Mao rules!), Girls with Guns, Women In Prison, Blaxploitation, Nunsploitation, old horror flicks, drive-in flicks, Something Weird, Hammer Horror, political docs, Hitchcock, Michael Haneke, Robert Greenwald and any "What the hell did I just watch???" flicks. I've been on a "Something Weird Video" bender lately. Some of my all time favorites include Taxi Driver, M*A*S*H, The Brain That Wouldn't Die, Dawn Of The Dead (the original), Get Carter (the 71 version), The Exorcist, A Better Tomorrow (all three), Dr. Jekyll and Sister Hyde, Valley Of Gwangi, Dr. Strangelove, Shaft (the original), The Taking Of Pelham One Two Three, Children Shouldn't Play With Dead Things, Full Contact, Cry Baby, Meet John Doe, Out Of The Past, Omega Man, Blow-Up, 2001: A Space Odyssey, 2010: The Year We Make Contact and Sleeper.
Music
Female and Female fronted bands first and formost. Reggae, 60's Psych, 70's Punk, New Wave, Jazz and any kind of off beat weirdness. I'm all over the musical map. Some names? OK. Early German stuff like Embro and Neu!, X-Ray Spex, Sun Ra, The Ohio Players, later John Coltrane, All About Eve, June Christy, Blackmore's Night, Wanda Jackson, Gato Barbieri (70's stuff), Big Brother & The Holding Co., Weather Report (pre Jaco), Nina Simone, The Sir Douglas Quintet, Texas, The Tubes, Anne-Sophie Mutter, The Kinks, Kate Bush, Texas Tornados, Television, Roxy Music (first 5 lps), The Clash, AC/DC (with Bon), Thin Lizzy, The Dictators, Gentle Giant, Runaways, Suzi Quatro, The Stranglers, Art Blakey, Sparks, Hilary Hahn, Goldfrapp, Ray Barretto, Gregory Issacs, Horslips, Inner Circle, Willie Bobo, The Sensational Alex Harvey Band, Steel Pulse, Any Trouble, Yusef Lateef, The Ramones, The Art Ensemble Of Chicago, Be-Bop Deluxe, Eddie Harris, Tanita Tikaram, Blues Magoos, Rahsaan Roland Kirk, Donovan and all the "Love, Peace & Poetry" and "Psychedelic States" (esp Ohio natch) comps. My favorite "chix" include Vice Squad, My Ruin, Gore Gore Girls, Lunachicks, Naked Aggression, Manda & The Marbles, Eva O, Neptunas, Cheap Chick, Betty Blowtorch, Deadline, The Great Kat, If Man Is Five and Hang On The Box. Some that I have been listening to lately have been Goodbye Gadget, Hydrovibe, Au Pairs (seriously, listen to "Playing With A Different Sex"), Les Terribles, Rotten Apples, My Name Is Nobody, The Hissyfits, Cuntastrophy (demo), Never Quiet Never Still, Pantychrist, Theo & The Skyscrapers, Reptoids, CSS and Be Your Own Pet.
Television
The only shows I watch anymore are Shark, 60 Minutes and my favorite "human train wreck" America's Next Top Model. Mostly just shut it off and turn on the dvd player anymore. Old TV like Peter Gunn, Combat, Rifleman, Highway Patrol, Dragnet and Avengers, Prisoner, Honey West, Secret Agent and Mission: Impossible are still the only way to go!
Books
"IT ENDS LIKE THIS: POO-TEE-WEET?" Kurt Vonnegut Jr. 1922-2007. Some favorites... Cosmic Trigger 1, 2 and 3 by Robert Anton Wilson, Film As A Subversive Art (Amos Vogel), just about all Philip K. Dick, Jack's Return Home (Ted Lewis), Junky (William Burroughs), Down And Out In Paris And London (George Orwell), the MU books by James Churchward, all the Modesty Blaise books (both novels and strips) and The Politics of Ecstasy (Timothy Leary). I also love Ugly Things, Paranoia, Lip, Global Outlook and Left Turn magazines.
Interests
I've been a vegan for about 10 years now. I don't follow most of the current popular music (and TV and movies and ...) scene anymore. I still follow all the female and female fronted bands. I also love that Rollerderby is back! Progressive Radio (Th, Stephanie Miller, Rachael Maddow, Bill Press and Randie Rhodes). I am also the king of DVDs.
