489+ Great Workout Songs

Just kidding...only twenty. But yeah here's a list of songs that will make you keep running. No disclaimers, not even for Mulan (it's the best of them all, I swear).

I'll Make a Man Out of You (Mulan)

Come on Eileen (Dexy's Midnight Runners)

Don't Stop Me Now (Queen)

Another Day (Rent)

Escape (Enrique Iglesias)

Suddenly I See (K. T. Tunstall)

Unwritten (Natasha Bedingfield)

Semi-Charmed Life (Third Eye Blind)

Don't Stop Believing (Journey)

Livin' On a Prayer (Bon Jovi)

Mrs. Potter's Lullaby (Counting Crows)

Send Me On My Way (Rusted Root)

All You Wanted (Michelle Branch)

Jumper (Third Eye Blind)

It's All Been Done (Barenaked Ladies)

Come Sail Away (Styx)

True To Your Heart (98 Degrees)

New York City (They Might Be Giants)

You Can't Stop the Beat (Hairspray)

Catch My Disease (Ben Lee)

For the record, no, I don't listen to 98 Degrees on a regular basis. Only that one song, on occasion, while I'm working out. 'I'll Make a Man Out of You,' however, is an entirely different story.

Web Typography: A Definitive Guide

I love resources like Smashing Magazine and I use them often, but sometimes I wonder about the line between helpful and overwhelming on the web. "301+ CSS tools and techniques" sounds exciting at first, but searching through such a huge library of examples feels almost like searching the entire Internet. Some of the links are fantastic, sure, but some of them aren't, and it's frustrating when I have to spend hours just ORGANIZING (not even using!) these resources.

Mostly for my own reference (although I'll be thrilled if you find this useful!), I've compiled the following list of 'definitive' typography resources on the web. They are sorted into categories, and each category has no more than THREE links. The only exception is 'Examples of Excellent Typography in Action,' which was simply impossible to pare down to three - five was hard enough!

Stay tuned for further installments in this series - Photoshop resources, CSS techniques, color selection, etc. Comment, and let me know what you'd like to see come next!

I put a lot of time and effort into the redesign of this site, and I'd love to get some feedback. What do you think? What's good, what's bad, what's ugly? Constructive criticism is definitely allowed and much appreciated.

On a semi-related note, this site was recently featured on CSS Mania! Here's the link: # ...Quite exciting, <strike>even though they misspelled my last name.</strike> (no worries, it's fixed!)

To be completely honest, the main purpose of this post is to get rid of the rather unsettling amount of whitespace on this page.

That being said, welcome back! This blog has existed in a slew of different incarnations for almost five years now. It started on Diaryland in the fall of 2002 (no link; far too embarrassing), when I was just about to enter my freshman year of high school. Teen-angsted-out, I moved to this domain in June 2005, and sort of/maybe/not really managed to provide a consistent stream of updates for about a year, at which point I gave up and went to college.

Now I'm back and, as usual, promising myself that I will update regularly. I have more to say this time around, I think, or at least, I hope. Here's to optimism!
