indie films are my favorite, as well as, film noir, toons again i'm all over the board here too a few titles that come to mind are triplet's of belleview, about a boy, brick, the painted veil, begone dull care, rear window, out of the past, a broke down melody, seedling, sprout, some directors: ford, burton, hitchcock, mcLaren, campbell and i flake out after that
my musical tastes are all over the board so this barely scratches the surface: ani defranco, broken social scene, the six part seven, thelonious monk, madlib, koushik, bad religion, john coltrane, death cab for cutie, fugazi, elliott smith, anonymous 4, notorious b.i.g., the evens, telephone jim jesus, thom yorke, anything put out on trojan records, subpop and stones throw, dischord i love trance, goa, indie, world, jazz (old skool), hip hop, jazz hop, mixes, basically if it has a rhythm i can feel or words that speak to me i have it want it or will get it, my tastes of the day usually follow my moods and my collection is huge and varied, i wouldn't have it any other way.
i'm a pbs, bbc (love bittorrent!) and discovery channel junky if and when i watched tv which is rare....
i live for books so to ask for favorites is kind of like asking someone to count the grains of sand on a beach but here are some books that stick out, where the wild things are, 100 years of solitude, the ganzfeld, the jungle, gashlycrumb tinies, instructions to the cook: a zen master's lessons, the curious incident of the dog in the night-time, life of pi, crooked cucumber, stiff, smart mobs, LOTR, hardcore zen, dharma punx, running with scissors
cycling (single track), old skool skateboarding, surfing, body boarding, swimming, photography, getting my geek on, gardening, yoga, speed walking, weights, reading, victrola repairs
i've always loved living near the ocean, i think it's that i have too much water running though my veins, i've never cared for the cold, but i do love the cool days of the fall when the shadows begin to extend and the leaves change. if you've ever stood by the ocean in the fall you can taste and smell this cornucopia of life, it all just seems to get jumbled up during all the other seasons. i live a very spiritual life, have practiced zen for twenty years, love the words of rumi, the beliefs of sufi and the interconnectedness of life. Even so I have found that what is most important is not what we believe, but how we live our lives and that we are true to who we say we are. i love laughter, bad jokes, smiling, watching my sons grow, collecting old 50's jazz records, contrasts that co-exist together, having a place to call home, watching live music, ghent, taking naps, making lists, journals, journaling, sushi, cooking, growing things, fly fishing, master's swimming, cycling, kayaks, art, obscura, diy, independence, people that can think for themselves, yoga, surfing and body boarding, old skool skateboarding, open source, fall, green tea, french pressed coffee, collecting ephemera some tangible, some only memories. travel, adventure and as i have gotten older i have found that i enjoy the spontaneity of life.
