I'm a photographer living in Amarillo, Texas. My dad was in the Air Force, so I'm a PROUD AFB (Air Force Brat). I was lucky to grow up all over, but mostly in Rapid City, South Dakota, Wisbaden, Germany, and Roswell, New Mexico. I'm married to the beautiful and talented Judy. She's a CFO with a restaurant supply company here in Amarillo. We have six children between us, sixteen grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren. How did all that happen? I just graduated from Roswell High School, Roswell, New Mexico yesterday. Or so it seems. My toy is a 1979 International Scout that I just had to have. I didn't know it was my toy until Judy told me a few weeks ago. Check out "my Toy" in my photos. Now tell me, does that look like a toy?

Old Age, I decided, is a gift.
I am now, probably for the first time in my life, the person I have always wanted to be. Oh, not my body! I sometimes despair over my body, the wrinkles, the baggy eyes, and the sagging butt. And often I am taken aback by that old …

Today started off with a hike up a hill behind the house I'm staying in. First thing I noticed is how much being out of shape, a tad older, in a higher elevation and trying to see everything plus watch where I'm going is a problem. But the end justified the effort as I …

I'm extremely fortunate. I have friends who offered me their "cabin" here, so I could see what "my eye" could see and photograph. Their cabin is absolutly wonderful. It's 2-3 times bigger than my home in Amarillo and the view. Only word I can think of is AWESOME! …

Steve Douglass, Oct 4, 2007:
I met John a few months back when a friend told me about this local photographer who wanted someone to tutor him on the transition from analog to digital photography.
Not only has he turned out to be a good pupil, but we became good friends . It was as if we had always been old friends ... that never met.
We shared the same likes, dislikes, politics etc. It was scary how much we had in common.
Anyone would do well to add him to one's friends list.
He's honest, creative, a helluva good dancer (i hear) and he loves his wife grandkids and country without exception. You can't do better than that!
Although I haven't known him that long, I consider him one of my oldest and dearest friends and have decided to adopt him, even though he is so very, very old.
Keep chipping away at the digital realm John!
For an old fart you are making good progress!
Who'd a thunk it that someday you'd have your own blog!
