So. This is my first, and quite possibly last, blog post on Virb. I won't bullshit and tell you this is the first of many brilliant snatches of writing I plan to extract from the keyboard in the next forever, but instead tell you more realistically that I will probably never blog here again. I have never really fit in with the blogspacho thinking of these internets... And I have very few plans regarding the masterful writing of a new cutting-wave blog-talk. So here we go.
My name is Clayton. I am a first year student at nipissing university. I love music. Love it to death. Again, no bullshitting "music is my life" stuff. It's not. However, it plays a role in typically anything I do. Learning, leisure, love... All need music in my life. If I knew how to play an instrument (of the stringed variety) mayhap my life would be even more music oriented. Mayhaps not. All I know is, I love to sing, and I love to bust out the old mouth harp (hohner special band, in the key of C) and wail. I improvise the lyrics to all of the songs my band plays. We are the Chris Walkens, and we're awesome. Seriously. We have been compared to Flight of the Conchords (explicitly) and my typical singing voice has been compared to Gordon Downie of the Tragically Hip (sweet!).
I am an English major. I love the language. Nothing gets me off faster then the perfectly phrased, nuanced, delicate, sentence... This is something visible in our finest musical artists lyrics. Radiohead, The Shins, Pink Floyd are all prime, killer examples. (See Killer Cars, New Slang, Wish you were Here, respectively. I have never approached a finished song in my own works.... As my attention span is not dissimilar to Tom Green on uppers.
This is roughly it for an introdction. I say roughly, as clearly you don't understand a goddam thing about me from this tiny snippet (Approximately written in 9 minutes) of unwitty words and bent phrases.
I hope someone reads this.
