Christian Fontana

London, United Kingdom

Billboard

Born in Scotland and spending a large part of his life working and operating north of the boarder - singer, songwriter, multi-instrumentalist and producer Christian Fontana is one of Britain's most talented up-and-coming musicians. Before a move to London, Christian worked with some of Scotland's best-known producers and artists including Paul Mills (Chaka Kahn, George Benson, Average White Band), Chris Greive (Shirley Bassey, Ray Charles), Niki King (Incognito, Perrier jazz vocalist of the year) and Ryan Quigley (The Commitments).

His timeless and distinctive vocals have been inspired by the likes of Prince, Terence Trent D'Arby, Lenny Kravitz and D'Angelo - with his own style blending the vocal range and harmony of Stevie Wonder and Al Green but at the same time accompanied with huge originality. As well as being a soulful and emotive singer, Christian is an outstanding live performer with the ability to capture and mesmerise any audience.

Christian teamed up with neo-soul maestros Yam Who?, Dan Moore (Roni Size) and legendary keyboard player Chas Jankel (the Blockheads) to create the dance floor slammer 'Wrap you up'. Later he was signed with Ubiquity Records, who released 'Wrap you Up' and created some stunning reviews, like -

"Wrap U Up" by Yam Who? (Featuring Christian Fontana) is the kind of velvety, digging lounge-funk that would make Jamiroquai's J.K. proud.' (Orlando City Beat)

Christian was also signed again in 2006 (twice!) to two UK Dance labels with his collaboration with Funky-house masters Elektro Organik. 'Everybody Dance' was released later in 2006 on Duffnote Records and remixed by Richard Earnshaw (Jamiroquai) and 'Revolutions' in the spring of 2007. Revolutions was later picked up by Hed Kandi and was released on their 'Stereo Sushi Vol. 11' Album.
The collaboration between Christian and Elektro Organik created a fresh and Inventive sound and has already gained much respect from industry gurus like Massive Attack and Kosheen!

Not content with sticking with one genre, Christian was signed (again!) in late 2007 to Shema Records to release his first official self titled and self produced 16 track Album.
Drawing from a wealth of musical influences and experience, Christians dynamic new album 'Blueprints for a brave new world' combines soulful vocals, fat beats and basslines with edgy funk guitars! A rock/funk fusion with soulful tones!
Released on iTunes on January 8th, the CD release is sheduled for late 2008 with a premier London showcase launch in the summer.
