- I have had anxiety for over 14yrs. I have been using lexapro for 1 year it has kept me emotitionaly stable but it has not helped my anxiety at all. I use 40mg.
- I have been on 20mgs of Lexapro for about 2 months now. I love it! I went from crying everyday and wanting to kill myself to being a normal person. It also relieved some of my social anxiety. I would definetly recommend it.
- I have suffered severe depression for approximately three years now and
finally went to see a psychiatrist. 20MG Lexapro was the ticket for me
and now nothing bothers me and I have yet to have feelings of
depression. Most of the initial side effects (yawning, dizziness and
nausea) went away within the first week.
- I have been on 10m of lex now for about two years, i take 1/2 of a .05m of xanix with it every day, works great never felt so good, tryed to go to 5m the last 5 days do not feel as good, think i will just stay on the 10, if its not broken why fix it.
- I'd never experienced depression until I was getting a divorce. Depression is frightening. Talking didn't relieve my despair. Then came new, nightmarish experiences: panic attacks. My doctor put me on Lexapro and I went to therapy. I felt immediately better physically, which paved the way for my eventual and complete emotional healing. I went off the drug once, crashed (don't quit suddenly, taper off if you have to). Now I take it again (low dose) with the same wonderful results.
- I've been on Lexapro 10mg for 5 years now and it makes me "me" again. It's wonderful! I've never had a side effect. I've also lost 90 pounds! I was eating because of the stress and depression and when that started to go away so did the overeating! I started to feel a lot better. It took about 4-5 weeks for it to kick in and I had to chart my progress through my doctor but I am truly thankful.
- I'm a 46 yr old female with a long history of being a control freak, unable to sleep, edgy, irritable, etc. I've been using 10mg of Lexapro for about 5 weeks now and the results are amazing. I can sleep, I can focus on what's important, and I'm much more even tempered. All my close friends and my boyfriend have commented on the difference. I haven't seen any side effects that I can't deal with yet, in fact the best one is that it makes me sleepy, so I take it at night.
- I've been on 10mg Lexapro for a while for depression and anxiety. Before I was on it, my moods changed quickly and I was always depressed and anxious. Lexapro is the best medicine I have been on for depression. My mood is fairly even and I am very rarely depressed. I have been on a bunch of different medicines and I have not had any side effects on Lexapro.
- My son is 8yrs old and has asperger's with an emphasis in anxiety. When the doc prescribed Lexapro at 10mg he had a manic episode, but when decreased to 5mg MY SON SMILED FOR THE FIRST TIME IN 2YRS! For a mom there is no greater feeling. We have to occationally use an additional anxiety medicine durning periods of intense stress but for maintenance therapy it's great. I only gave it a rating of 7 due to the severe WEIGHT GAIN he has experienced. Good luck to all who suffer
- this medication is amazing and has changed my life for the better! However like most SSRI's it does neg impact sex drive etc and it did lead to weight gain
- I have been suffering from Severe Depression, Anxiety and Panic attacks for 4 years. I have been on every anti-depressent and anti-anxiety med known along with mood stabilizers. All of these at the same time and always tweaking doses. I had no life I just wanted to be alone from my wife and kids and people in general. This hurt that I was not able to be the dad and husband I used to be. I have been on Lexapro for 4 weeks now and for the first time I have no anxiety or depression. It works for me
- My husband used to take Paxil & was able to ween himself off successfully,over 6 years ago. Now,after being severely & permanently injured at work,having spinal surgery 2 years ago, he has severe anxiety,with good reason! & his doctors have put him on Valium, then Ativan, & then Klonapin. But recently, a new doctor asked him to try Lexapro. Boy what a wonder drug so far!! Very few side-effects,and it really gets him focused and happier!! If it continues,it will be a miracle for our family!!!!!!
- I am an 18 year old female, 5'4", 118 lbs, currently on 40 mg of Lexapro and 80 mg of Vyvanse for anxiety and other issues. Mild nausea for the first couple days of treatment, fine after that. No other notable effects until going from 30 to 40, now noticed a somewhat decreased sex drive and some difficulty orgasming. Still deciding whether that's worth it. Otherwise, Lexapro is decent. No fabulous turnaround for me, but definitely helping me get on with life :-)
- After battling the social stigma of admitting that I suffer from Depression and Anxiety, I researched on the internet and talked with my Medical Dr. about getting on Lexapro for my depression and Anxiety. However, I realized that there is about a 4 week window before the effects occur,,,, so if you are new to it like me and have anxiety,,,, I would consider requesting your dr. to put you on a short term Anxiety medication,,,, In my case, I went with Xanax, which seems ok,,,, so far....
- I have taken lexapro 10mg for 5 years now. I recently tried to come off of lexapro due to sexual side effects and had really bad withdrawl symptoms. I am back on lexapro 5mg and will not try to change for a LONG time. This medicine keeps me level and keeps me from crying all the time for no reason.
- LOVE IT! Works like a charm to keep me in line. I have severe depression and this is the only one that worked for me.
- I've been on several medications but lexapro is the only one that has helped. ive suffered from severe depression, anxiety,panic attacks, obsessive compulsive disorder and ive had suicidal thoughts since is was 9 years old. lexapro has helped with all of this. i still have "down" moments but nowhere as severe! i am able to face reality better and was able to return to school.
- I have a panic disorder where I find it hard to be touched and have frequent panic attacks. After taking this medication, I am a lot more at ease and rarely have a panic attack.
- Lexapro has been extremely effective for me. I did not have clinical depression, just depression from cumulative stress. It took about two weeks to kick in, but after that life went slowly back to normal. I am myself again and I get to go off the meds soon.
- I'm an 18 year old male taking Lexapro for anxiety. I've been on it for about 2 weeks now and can feel it starting to work. I am less anxious and am able to let go of the things that used to worry me. I have noticed trouble sleeping, but I had this problem before I started taking the drug. I also noticed I constantly yawn (sounds weird I know), and the yawning seems to be coupled with a feeling of nausea. I also am having trouble orgasming. Other than that I can definately feel it working!
- It made me feel normal and able to tolerate daily life, but absolutly killed my sex life with my husband and NO orgasim!
- Been on Lexapro for 4 years now. Have taken an SSRI for 15 years to battle Generalized Anxiety Disorder. Have taken Paxil & Zoloft in the past, but Lexapro trumps them, hands down. With Paxil & Zoloft I woke with anxiety. None with Lexapro. It's great and has improved my quality of life tremendously.
- I took this for anxiety, i only had mild side effects for the first 3 days (mild nausea), they went away and in a few weeks i notied the medicine starting to work. I was able to come off the med after a few months... maybe it was a year. I have not been on medication since. but everyone is different so check with your doctor if this med is right for you.
- I have had Bipolar disorder since I was 14 and never knew what it was. about 4 years ago I asked my Doc for something to help with depression and he prescribed 10 MG of Lexapro. I couldn't believe how much it helped. He bumped me up to 20mg a day (I'm 6ft , 250 lbs).When I went to a rehab where they prescribed a lot more meds wich eventually had very bad side effects so I was pulled off of it and switched to welabutrin.I think this drug works great alone but watch for other drug reactions.
- I've been on lexapro for about a year - finally went on something after waiting way too long. It works well, and I definitely feel better, but I'm not sure it's the best medication for the costs/side effects vs benifits. I had problems with my menstrual cycle and it was making me physically ill. I had to switch to a different BCP to get it straightened out. I also think that I need a higher dose than 10mg. It is helping, but I don't know if it's helping enough.
- I am a 29 year old female who has been taking Lexapro for about 5 wks now to treat depression--5mg for 2 wks, then 10mg, and now up to my full time 20mg dose. 5mg didn't affect me much, but now I feel better than I have in years. Side effects were minimal, except for waking up with headaches recently since increasing my dosage. People in my life notice significant change in me. I wish I hadn't waited so long to seek treatment...this stuff is amazing!
- I am a 50 year old female. I have been on every anit-depressent known to man. I also take xanax and have been on it for 23 yrs. (Hereditary chemical imbalance, I was a mess) Lexepro is the only med I have taken that has helped tremendously with no side effects. Doxepin made me gain LOTS of weight. I take it to eat because without it I keep knots in my stomach. Only thing lexepro did not help with. My appetite. Overweight now, but feel a lot better. Going to try quiting doxipin now with lexepro.
- I'm 5'2", 132, been on paxil 20 mg for years. Was supposed to help with depression and anxiety. Only helped with depression until recently. Dr. tried me on cymbalta, had too many side effects. Now he has me on the 20 mg Paxil with 2.5 mg of lexapro until I call him tomorrow. Haven't noticed a difference yet, but no side effects either.
- I am a female, 27 yrs old, 115 lbs and have been on lexapro for nearly a month now. Within weeks I was at ease, less tense, less irritable, and able to relax for once. Even my boyfriend noticed the change, and I never informed him I was taking the medication! He says I have been less 'edgy' and am easier to be with. I feel much better about my outlook on life, and I am also talking to a therapist concurrently so I can learn how to deal with the hard things in life. It has worked wonders for me!
- **It will take up to 6 weeks to start working! Don't give up!** I am 6'5, 210 lbs (male) and have taken lexapro for 2 years for anxiety. In the first week, I had horrible insomnia and the anxiety increased horribly -- I ended up on Ativan to quell the anxiety for two weeks. But after that, the anxiety seriously decreased. I no longer sit counting the minutes until a meeting is over, or laying in bed worrying at night. The only side effect I still have is a lack of sex drive. Oh well.
- The damned stuff saved my life, or at least my quality of life. I was depressed for 35 years and about three years ago I decided I didn't care anymore what people thought - I was going to try medication for depression. I started with WellButrin, and it helped a bit - the constant undercurrent of grief began to let up a little. I figured "in for a penny, in for a pound" and agreed to try Lexapro, and for the first time since I was a kid, I felt *normal*. I have energy, have a life.

Now that I have been on lexapro for over a month, I feel much better and I don't worry about the things that use to bother me before I started taking lexapro.
