I did not know that! WELL HELLO THERE WORLD! I'm not even gonna throw out figures, number crunching and the fact that the Association for the Improvement of the Skateboarding Community Of Augusta..(AISCOAUG)..actually, that's not even a real organization, it just sounded cool when I was typing. It's the ASA! Established this year to get ready for the next 5 years.. that's actually true. Because the city of Augusta, Georgia runs the public park, its funded by the city. The park has been around for over 7 years and the turn-out is in the negative. Nobody has stepped up to the plate since it's foundation due to the fact that skaters get a bad rep and/or are misrepresented in every city meeting regarding funds for recreational activities. This city is typically focused on Golf..disk golf, regular golf and the idea that maybe a hall of fame focused around golfing is more of a necessity than any skateboarding facility repair. We here at the ASA (Augusta Skateboarding Association) want to see a change..but in order to see it, we needed petitions.. we needed signatures from our residents in support of a NEW public park. A CONCRETE PARK. This would eliminate the need for the city to spend money on maintenance. A concrete park can last forever..give or take a paste/patch every so often. It's crazy to think that Athens, GA (Our neighbor about 130 Miles away) has a wonderful FREE concrete park. There has to be a reason for this..for not seeing the need here in our city. I've been a skater for nearly..well, let's just say, if you know the Bones Brigade had a guest appearance in Police Academy 4...well, then you know. But since suffering an injury and trying to convince my head that I'm okay now...I figured I could lend my support to an organization I believe in..not USA for Africa..almost the same initials I guess. If you skate, you relate. Point blank. We have a vote coming up to get funding for a new park..the problem is...if money gets to the skaters, they won't see it for at LEAST 4 years. Politics. It's what this whole thing is based on. Private investors are a consideration, but unless Mr. Big Pockets has an illegitimate son/daughter who is living the skater life..the chances for his support are slim to none. I'm just hoping that by setting up a Virb page, a Myspace page, chat rooms and friend requests to Tony Hawk..maybe..someone awesome would read this..and give me some feedback!
