Jesus commands his disciples in Scripture "Come, follow Me." He commands the same of us. It seems simple, and it seems that anyone who is sold out to Jesus would be running after Him instead of simply following. This is where I am with this command presently. I have given my heart to Jesus and I am determined to follow Him. I want to have a whatever, whenever attitude when it comes to following Jesus because I know the plan that He has for me is greater than anything I could ever dream up for myself. BUT, and there always seems to be a but, probably because I am learning as I go. Currently, I am the Christian that is "following" Jesus but constantly tapping Him on the shoulder saying "Where are we going?" I feel like Timothy because I am so skeptical about where Jesus is taking me. We are called to FIGHT FOR OUR KING! If that means risking our lives, reputations, dreams, etc. then we must do it because HE IS WORTH IT!

Jesus does not promise a life of security. Following Him is DANGEROUS! Jesus does not save us from death but saves us from the fear of death. We are called to live as foreigners in this world, we come as members of the Kingdom of God! Peter finds out that he is being called to go somewhere he does not want to go and die for Jesus in John 21. He starts to say "what about John, and what about so and so, why don't they have to die?". He is SCARED of his calling. Know that Jesus is not calling you to live the same life as any other Christian. YOUR LIFE IS UNIQUE BEFORE GOD, AND YOUR PATH IS YOURS ALONE (I am stealing all of this from the Barbarian Way by the way, this book is rocking my world). I LOVE Jesus' response to Peter's argument about John being kept alive and Peter having to die. He says "If I want him to remain alive until I return, what is that to you? You must follow me." John 21:22. Then one of my favorite quotes from Barbarian Way to some up this verse. "Jesus' response to Peter was as straight-forward as it could possibly get: 'If I want John to live and you to die, what is that to you? YOUR PART IS TO FOLLOW ME. MY PART IS TO LEAD THE WAY."

Let's just say now I am walking behind Jesus with my hands behind my back and tape over my mouth. I am saving all my talking and tapping for wherever he TAKES me!
