My Christian life seemed so real to me when I read this book a couple of years ago. It was one of the first books I read and I know that was for a reason! Anyways, right now I am re-reading the book of Romans. I was in Romans Chapter 5 last night when I read something that either I learned once and forgot or just plain missed, but I knew it was worth blogging about!
Christ died for us while we were still sinners. Let me say that again, Christ DIED for US while we were STILL SINNERS. I hope I emphasized the right words there. There are very many people that I love enough to say that I would die for, but that is because they LOVE me and have proven to me that they will always believe in me, love me, and be there for me. Now, there are not many people in my life that have treated me badly that I would be willing to die for. In fact, most of the time (and I'm just being completely honest, you know you have felt the same way at some point), I want revenge.
DO YOU KNOW WHAT JESUS SAID TO GOD ABOUT THE PEOPLE THAT WERE NAILING HIM TO THE CROSS??
"Father, forgive them, for they do not know what they are doing." Luke 23:34
No one could have been treated worse than Jesus...
...yet, He died for us, IN THAT MOMENT.
I can't even fathom the sacrifice He has made for me. It is overwhelming. Yet Romans 5: 10 says "For if, when we were God's enemies, we were reconciled to him through the death of his Son, how much more, having been reconciled, shall we be saved through his life!"
Die to sin, LIVE with Jesus! It's the best thing going!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Do you even know what He is capable of doing, what He wants to do?
He died for us while we were sinners, imagine what He will do now that we have life...
