Rags to Riches

As I said before and will probably repeat several..HUNDRED..times, my dad and stepmom recently received Christ. I happened to be the person that God used beat them over the head with my Bible. Ok, so I didn't beat them but sometimes I wanted to as I'm sure many people wanted to do with me. Anyways, the point is to say that this story is not written. Sometimes I wish it were because honestly there are days I feel that I have nothing left to give or say. I have particularly felt this way in the past 24 hours that I have been home for Spring Break. I just wanted to be lazy. Then I started thinking back at my parents life only a year ago and how much it has changed. And I not only was instantly encouraged to continue serving them in any way possible...I was PUMPED!! Here are just a few of the changes that have taken place...feel free to shout AMEN and praise the Lord!

#10: Dad and Gina received Christ in the Fall of 2006, joined Newspring in 2006, and were baptized in 2007.

#9: Instead of watching King of the Hill (which we will still do at times), we watched a home video of my baptism as well as my parents.

#8: Dad spends his free time doing things like making t-shirts, my favorite being one that says "The Point Is: Hell?....NO!" (It came from one of Perry's sermons)

#7: Gina went from being terrified to go to church because people might look at her (no joke) to requesting to sit in the front row raising her arms in worship! Not that I think you must raise your arms to be a good Christian, but the girl wanted people to know she'd felt the love of Christ!!

#6: My parents went from having the attitude of "We can't afford to tithe" to "We can't afford not to", started tithing, and now their finances are being blessed. Thats right, they started giving money and have come out of it with even more. Yes, that is a God thing.

#5: My dad has started evaluating his career and whether or not God wants him to be doing what he is doing. Basically, at age 51 he is not afraid to start over and has suggested careers that would be a HUGE pay cut.

#4: We have prayed together on several occassions.

#3: Almost everywhere I turn there is a Bible or Christian book in the house. And they are never in the same place so unless my parents move them around often in order to trick me, they are actually reading them!

#2: My dad had a Bible verse written on his hand yesterday and actually knew it when I asked him about it!

#1: My parents can't stop thinking about the people they want to meet Jesus, including my brother, uncle, grandmother, and several others. And they are DOING SOMETHING ABOUT IT!

God uses people to reach people, I am convinced of that because it is shown over and over in the Bible. He doesn't need me but he has made it clear that he wants to use me. He has made it especially clear that my work is not done. I have a lot of family members that do not know Jesus, who knows how long they have to meet Him. All I know is that I have two new people on my team and where two or three are gathered God will listen!! That is why I am here to continue serving my parents, so that they will be spurred on to serve others with me :)
