The Swimmer one damn subtle psychedelic trip, The Vagabond by supreme craftswoman and noveau vague director Agnes Varda, Je Tu Elle Il what can i say but it's the most simply affecting masterpiece by a young female director ever (Chantal Ackerman playing herself), Naked Lunch how did he do it how did he let a major studio create a giant bug that speaks out a wrinkly asshole in its back??,
The Knife, Vetiver, disco-era Donna Summer, a big bundle of Portland bands like Tara Jane O'Neil, Paint and Copter, the Water Graves
Veronica by strange dark lady Gary Gaitskill, Midnights Children by Salman Rushdie, Whores for Gloria by William T. Vollman
Dancing dancing dancing is my therapy, so is karaoke, so is jogging, so it biking when it's not torrential in Portlandia. Reading, writing letters to friends when i can sit still for a moment, watching my roommate Colleen cook and pitching in when she needs me to, drinking good wine on porches in the summer and hot toddies in basements the winter, shooting video, making documentaries, curating video screenings, watching films in a theater or on a couch
Now my biggest interest/hobby is my job which is documentary video production, and how strange to have passion and paycheck collide like that, but so it is. Documentary means my interest can jump from one thing to the next, currently fascinated with the DMZ, the scariest place on earth lying smack between the two Koreas, simultaneously war zone and bird/endangered species sanctuary. ALSO bringing people together in creative capacities whether through a video screening or collaborative efforts on videos, understanding the wonky place this earth, learning from people with more experience than myself, grasping technology better, writing, and making a lighter footprint on the world.
