An out-and-out multimedia event introducing the young Brussels based art-collective 54KOLAKTIV in the context of the CIMATICS 2008 festival.








GUESTS:



BYUNGJUN KWON and MINSEOK KWON brought a vigorous analog audiovisual performance with handmade electronics and instruments. ByungJun Kwon uses his pen instrument (Pied Piper) to create images and sound with unique analog effects. His performance comes to life by scratching, drawing and writing over old newspaper and magazine articles on top of an LP. MinSeok Kwon plays an electronically rigged recorder connected to a Cracklebox to generate audiovisuals.

JEROEN UYTTENDAELE and his guest WOLFGANG BITTNER presented their latest work "Lucy's Mirror": an audiovisual improvisation emphasizing on the dialects between image and sound rather than the synchronization of the two.
In juxtaposing images with sound, the audience is invited to experience the performance rather than to understand it. Lucy's mirror creates an experience that speaks for itself.

54KOLAKTIV:





HOODI ELI presented a sculpture/installation that vibrates to bass lines combined with experimental light works and strobes. Sculptures, objects, furniture,.. seem lifeless yet are constructed out of matter, just like us. Learn to see and feel.






PEACHLOVER covered the stage with one of his infamous trademark peaches.






MAX PINCKERS is the collective's photographer. He introduced us to the world of alternative analogue photography with his Lomowall, a Lomography concept. A composition of over 150 different images.





NALISH brought an all night long 'live painting' performance.







The PINCKERS QUARTET perform for the first time. A collaboration with WALRUS, SAGAT, ROSTISLAV en PINCKERS. They brought an improvised audiovisual performance with live instruments.


GERARD-JAN CLAES and OLIVIA ROCHETTE had a screening of their most recent film work. Olivia concentrates on visual esthetics with a passion for reminiscence and recollections while Gerard-Jan connects with his fascination for history and the urban environment. Together they aim to bring a new way of storytelling using documentary principles. A method that often deviates from a strict plot yet flirts with narrative structure.





Even the visitors had a chance to be creative with the massive guestbook that was completely covered by the end of the night!
