Now with added GPS

For Christmas I received a very good Garmin Etrex Vista HCx GPS device for use when out walking the Scottish hills. As well as keeping me on the right path it will also satisfy my inner geek by providing myriad stats ready for analysis after the walk.

To test it out we took advantage of crisp, cold weather on Boxing Day and headed up our local hill, Black Hambleton. As well as the GPS I also took the camera and with a couple of useful bits of software (GPSBabel and GPSPhotolinker) have got all my photos tagged correctly with accurate GPS information. I then signed up to Easy Trail where all of the above can be combined to give this overview of the walk, including pictures.

It's scary how easy it is to assimilate all these different kinds of information.
