I damn near lost it when I saw these BGs. This is exactly what I have been envisioning for Musk Ox.
This is EYVIND EARLE.

Reminder:
Cleanup below drawings.
Use friskets to create BGs using markers that bleed. Use paper as friskets to capture some of that bleed in the BG to see what happens.

Here is my second construction practice of a Bugs Bunny cover. I chose a cover more difficult than the previous one, even though I told myself I would choose something easier. I am pleased overall, but I need to definitely work on getting quicker at these. But …

To tide You over, here is a construction practice of a Bugs Bunny Comic Cover:
Here is the construction compared with the original:
This is my first construction study, by eye, drawn from my monitor. It is very messy, a lot of editing, and the Bugs character is too …

Clearly I also need to work on digital painting
OK here's something that started with a sketch in my Swedish grammar book, to looseyloose sketching in Illustrator blah blah..
I just want to churn these suckers out now.

A sketch in process of me slam dunking from half court, where the globe is the court, and I'm jumping over the Atlantic Ocean. A drawing request from Chris T.

I am currently scanning away on all of my sketchpads, deciding what should be highlighted here if anything. If you feel the need, the above URL is where they're currently residing. Don't even knock, just walk right through the front door, …
Some quick ideas before I goto bed at 6am
Flash animation where the background is loading like an interlaced .gif, or large image files ca. 1994.
Painting of objects where the shadows mimic low-res shadows usually found in low polygon renderings -- bit-mapped and artifacts.

Scanner on it's way. I've been drawing mainly outside of the computery computer since I just need that sensual graphite, or marker on tablet of paper feeling that I've been missing all these wintry days. Stay tuned please, I feel like I'm making some great strides …

I've got some updates for thee, but I was thinking of my urge to always round off and squash shapes when drawing (read: cartoon). When drawing from nature, draw long, skinny forms.
Now: Xfer-ing drawings from cell phone. Puh.

I can see most shots of the Musk Ox in my head throughout the day. They keep crossing the moat into my secure castle walls and enliven the king's peasants for a night or two.

Just a reminder of what an actual Musk Ox looks like.
I recently read a blog post by John K here: http://johnkstuff.blogspot.com/2007/02/being-enslaved-to-someone-elses-style.html
about being a slave to someone else's style. He names T.S. Sullivant, widely recognized as …
Mini Stories
The idea came to me to create mini stories of each character, told only visually, to provide a small background behind the character. The first one that came to mind was the zookeeper, who used to be a hunter, but in his old age finds hunting the animal …

Pete's photo folio concept. Instead of a painterly style for the sandwich, I was visualizing a photographed sandwich, with the letters 'PBJ' stamped onto the bread, hard enough for the viscous jelly to seep through. The jelly would outline the letters and make them …

Thinking ahead for today's character designs, I want to attempt a softer and simpler approach to the fur. I must also keep in mind a bevy of Musk Ox characters to serve as the progranist's family.
mental note: provide sketches of page layout designs ive had in mind for …

A stumbling towards character design. I want to barf out quite a few of these, complete with color models, and ultimately end up with a final model sheet, complete with poses.
There is no real action line here, but I like how our character is developing, albeit slowly.
More stumbling. Here I am more concerned with body pose, expression, and character design than color and setting here since its kind of garbage (the setting).
I like the possible contrast of flat (the horns, eyes) vs volume (fur around face).
