Hey everyone-
I've been slow to update lately, and I apologize for that. Last week was a real rough one, with two annoying tests in two days (Advanced Cellular Biology and Calculus) so I didn't have time or energy to work on anything ACH-related. Dustin's been busy as all get out as well- he's been mixing the new record for Stepford, his project with Austin Carlson, and the record is nearly done! They're in our top friends, so stop on by if you have the time and want to hear his pipes over some less-digital tunes. (might as well check out Ely Falls too while you're at it, they are equally as awesome)
We are proud to announce that the much-delayed covers EP, entitled Versions 1.0, is making headway- and to prove it, we've posted our first new complete track off of it- a cover of Avalanche by Ryan Adams. It's available for free download on our Virb player, so feel free to grab it, throw it on your iPod or comparable listening device, give it to your friends, whatever you feel is appropriate. We'll be giving you more and more of a taste as the EP progresses, and in case we haven't told you yet, it's going to be available completely for free!!!!
So I bet you're wondering...what's new in the life of Kris? Well, things are damn good. I've been spending time with good people, staying busy, and making plans for the future. In fact, starting next Thursday, I'll be spending a week in Puerto Rico, in a nice little surfing town called Aquadillas. I don't surf, but I'm hoping to try and pick it up while I'm there. I also plan to get some ideas for new music. This is not to say that the next record will be drenched in latin grooves, with horn lines and ass-shaking rhythms...but I think just taking in the beauty of the area will do wonders. I won't be bringing my keyboard or anything like that, but I'll try and record little bits of gold on my phone's sound recorder or my voicemail or something and use that in future songs.
Another weird adventure i've been engaged in recently is the filming of some utterly ridiculous youtube videos. Some of you may have seen Pizza Slap, the latest work I've been in...but that's only the beginning. There's a music video coming out for a joke song I did with a bunch of my friends and trust me...it's going to be budget-epic. It's pretty metal too...with splashes of Savage Garden and Wu-Tang Clan. You heard me right. I may give you guys the link when it's done, otherwise you may just have to dig around and find it on your own. It depends on whether my dignity flies out the window when I see the final cut or not.
I've been reccomending music in the last few blogs, and I figure it's time I did a few more. I'm going to keep it short and simple though: here's a list of the bands you need to check out if you haven't already:
Dredg
Anamanaguchi
Four Year Strong
Motion City Soundtrack
Winterpills
Ely Falls
Stepford
Say Anything
Nada Surf
and that's about it for now!
So-
Stay awesome, I know it won't be hard for you.
Kris
