2000+ Out takes - Commercial Photography - Chase Jarvis

post a comment | posted Jun 16

Often new clients hiring a commercial photographer for the first time may be amazed at the setup, gear, or time needed to scout and light a set. Other times on an editorial photo shoot the people being featured may think that the photographer will show up with a camera with a pop up flash and no other gear. I've spent an entire day photographing multiple concepts, angles and scenarios only to have 2 or 3 selected for an advertisement or to run in a magazine.

The purpose of this concept--what we're calling Chase Jarvis FRAMES--is to show a behind-the-scenes look into ALL the pictures from a given shoot, especially the ones that wouldn't't normally see the light of day. My hope is that this helps better illustrate what really goes into shooting and selecting the final images we see in advertisements, magazines, and on gallery walls.....

Check out this awesome video montage of photos created by Chase Jarvis Commercial / Advertising photographer.

Maybe this video will inspire me to do something similar with some of my photo shoots. I do document my lighting setup and share those with others, but maybe showing all the digital images created by my camera in one simple movie may be something I could produce.

Stay tuned to see what I do with some of my photographs to share the behind the scenes from some of our recent photo shoots.
