Hallo --this is the playhouse of freelance designer Lisa Donohue of Adahlia Design. I specialize in illustration, web/UI design, illustration and motion graphics. I'll be posting selections of my most recent work here, so feel free to check back and take a look. Or, just say hey!

We're a little out of sorts here until I massage the Virb layout into submission. There will be balance and beautiful things here, I promise.

Time to breathe

Waikiki, Feb'08

Today marks month 2 since my decision to quit my job of 13 years and go freelance under the name of Adahlia Design (yeah!) So far, the change has been a wonderful little hamster wheel. It has been a test of my confidence for sure, but I've accomplished much in a short time. I've designed, built and launched my design portfolio, worked on 4 separate client projects (1 pro bono), created my resume and project brief, landed a new contract agreement, brainstormed networking strategies, created items for sale, and took a class on fire performance safety --wha? yes!

Time to breathe now. I'm trying to take it all in and just well, be at peace with my decision. With freedom (er, power --thanks, Spiderman) comes responsibility, and thankfully, the headspace to start dreaming and creating things again.

"Robot Block Party" by Rob Sheridan

Inspiration right now:
What I love is that I now have time to browse and research great illustration work. I ran across this incredible sketch blog by Rob Sheridan. He is 28 years old and his work blows my mind. He has been responsible for cover art images for Nine Inch Nails over the years, and creates some of the most comically spooky illustrations I've ever seen. I'm inspired by people who can create such fantastic images from scratch like he does. I've long since wanted to render out some dream images that I've carried with me for years.. Maybe now's the time?
