About

The middle child of seven kids, Aiman admits his musical journey began through the influence of every side of his siblings. Exposed to everything from rock, hardcore, garage, hip hop, soul and jazz. When the late 1990s rolled around and electronic music begin to developed and evolved and DJ culture began to take off, Aiman cites a chance encounter with his older brother (DJ Define) who had turntables that would launch him in to the DJing arena.

Influenced by the likes of MJ Cole, Artful Dodger, Adam Freeland, Freq Nasty and etc, Aiman started spinning and messing around the turntables playing UK Garage (credit to Ash) and Breakbeats. After that, he ventured into the sound that really moves him and later caught on to playing Drum n Bass. He began his love in Drum n Bass after hitting some underground joints back when he started playing the turntabales. He was hooked, especially when he heard the sound of dirty, distorted, nasty basslines. With the help of the internet and also Knowledge magazine connecting him to the world of Drum n Bass he then get more serious in to it. Aiman has been cited by the likes of Roni Size, Clipz, Adam F, Aphrodite, Bukem and more as an inspiration.

Then Assault&Battery was born. Instead of being behind bars, Assault & Battery (used to be known as Phat Funktion) chose to set the vibes right behind the decks. These partners in crime are eager to show the best of what they have to offer to the Malaysian club scene. Consists of members, Aiman and Basil, it was founded that these long time schoolmates has the same interests in doing things with the same definition of music; Drum n Bass. After a whole year of hitting private parties and producing, they decided to emerge from the underground scene. Assault & Battery have won recognition in every corners of the ever-growing dance music industry with their tasteful sound of soulful drum and bass and deep groovy basslines. Packed with attitude behind the decks, this duo has successfully walked away with the title Ultimate Champion of the Juice Magazine DJ Quest 2005. To add to this already promising achievement, Assault & Battery have also made appearances at the Orchid Club in Koh Phangan, Thailand for the Full Moon party alongside other international DJs. Apart from that, they have also been the highlight at various clubs like Zouk, Velvet Underground, the Loft, Teasers, Aero and Glow to name a few. They have already made appearances in big events and parties like the Regenerate "New Years Eve 2006" @ Cyberjaya, Nike "Joga Bonito Launch" @ Stadium Merdeka, as well as other showcases and gigs around town.

Aiman is an active member of FoundationKL. The Foundation is an experimental collective connected by good music and driven by a raw passion to listen and BE HEARD. This site promotes musicians by offering FREE downloads, DJ mixes, and how-to guides straight from Planet's best bedroom and semi-professional DJs and Producers. He got his first break in the UK playing for a small party set up by a friend (eightpencechains) of his colleague and things get better when he stumbled across the midlandsdnb crew and has seen playing at the uni and also a club nite called RUSH! alongside other brilliant midlands dnb djs.

So we are facing some pretty interesting times here in the USA.
Political plays float on a sea of national concern over the tide of the economy.
A surge of social unrest floods the senses of our collective consciousness,
urging us to either go with the flow or stride with the current for change!

This month I'm finally able to share a concept that I've been exploring for seven years.
I see our electronic music community as being comprised of many tribes,
and the individuals of these tribes have a particulalry affinity for music that resonates with the vibration of their tribe, with each tribe and musical style having a correspondant element as follows:

Drum N Bass - Fire Element
Breakbeats - Water Element
Trance/Progressive House - Air Element
Funky/Deep/Chicago/San Francisco House - Earth Element

This week's show is my interpretation of the shifting universal energies I feel at a soul level in Mizu Jutsu, Water Style electronica, ala emotive, syncopated, ebb and flow of beats and bass tha we know as Breaks...

Enjoy!

One,

DJ Möet aka Pascal A Dupuy
