Formed back in the year 1998 in Lyon, AKIN is a rock/metal band whose members come from very different, yet compatible, musical horizons.

Their first demo CD, STANZAS (demo of the month in Hard N'Heavy and Rock Hard magazine in January 2001) enabled the band to sign up with Sacral Productions.

VERSE (2001), AKIN's debut album (based on the work of E.A.Poe) and then FORECAST (EP - 2003) were both reviewed in the french metal press as being part of the top albums of the year of their release.

Indeed, the band's very personal style (spiced up with classical flute, acoustic guitars, some percussions and few electro/jazz inputs) got the media really enthusiastic and eulogistic!

Such positive write-ups gave the band the opportunity to open for WITHIN TEMPTATION, DARK TRANQUILLITY, EPICA and THE OLD DEAD TREE in 2002 and 2003.

After an off-peak period due to some members of the band's health problems, AKIN is back to work and is currently preparing his second LP.

Formé à Lyon en 1998, AKIN est un groupe au registre musical large, résultat de l'addition des sensibilités diverses de chacun des membres du groupe.

"Stanzas" (demo du mois dans Hard N' Heavy et Hard Rock Mag' en Janvier 2001) puis "Dreamland" (Mars 2001) permirent à AKIN de signer chez Sacral Productions. "Verse" (2001), le premier album du groupe, fut unanimement salué par la presse spécialisée française et étrangère :

De telles chroniques ont permis à AKIN de décrocher les premières parties de WITHIN TEMPTATION, DARK TRANQUILLITY, SINERGY, EPICA ou encore THE OLD DEAD TREE en 2002 et 2003.

"Forecast" (EP - 2003) devait être, à travers ses deux premiers titres notamment, une introduction au second album du groupe qui aurait dû initialement sortir en 2004 mais qui ne paraîtra finalement que fin 2009.
