Let's start with the facts: Alec Empire, in addition to being an outstanding musician who has made a unique contribution to the evolution of contemporarily music, is also an exceptional record producer, remixer and DJ. In a time when overhyped bands are dying like flies barely one record into their careers, Alec travels his own path with a determination and a sonic vision rarely seen amongst today’s musicians.
He founded the band Atari Teenage Riot, the revolutionary outfit like no other which made charged political statements and even started riots.
Alec has worked with an astonishing variety of musicians. From the likes of Bjork, Einsturzende Neubauten, Jon Spencer, Rammstein,Thurston Moore from Sonic Youth, Slayer and many more...
He toured with Nine Inch Nails, Rage Against The Machine, Beck, the list goes on like a Christmas present list.
He’s ticked most boxes on the Achievement’s List: toured the world, received a Kerrang Award, had his music in Blockbuster Hollywood films!
Alec Empire is louder than My Bloody Valentine or Motorhead. When he feels like it.

Alec Empire and Nic Endo (ATR, Remixes for Raveonettes, Dillinger Escape Plan and more) have put together a new show for the upcoming tour which will include songs from his whole career (including Atari Teenage Riot material).
Alec:" This has been a real challenge for me. I am in a position where younger audiences keep discovering my early work. Which is great of course! In the current political climate people seem to demand more from a song than boring entertainment. But this also meant looking back at singles from years ago to then re-invent those songs and breathe fresh life into them. Usually bands deliver the sort of setlist which could be compared to "Best of" albums. I didn't want to do that. We will play classics like ATR's "Revolution Action", but they have to sound as fresh as they did when they were first released. We put the music in the context of today. And trust me...this will be intense. Technology has moved on so much...It is exciting to push the boundaries further!"
He is working together with musicians like Patrick Wolf and the up-and-coming London band Big Pink (recently signed to 4AD).
Alec Empire is many things to many people:
- The charismatic frontman of Atari Teenage Riot (German magazine SPEX even called him "the first true German popstar")
- The innovative and intellectual electronic music producer who, like Brain Eno or Aphex Twin, has performed at classical music halls and scored films.
- The guitar wizard during the era of the album "Futurist".
He simply does not fit in. He always manages to keep his integrity. This has enabled him to win over a wide ranging audience over [ deleted 'all' ] the years.
Alec Empire will also premiere new material from his next album "2010" (to be released in the 2nd half of 2009).
Dave Grohl was quoted in Kerrang Magazine as saying that Alec Empire "had done something with this music so radical that nothing afterward will survive."
Indeed a very good reason to go and see him and make up your own mind!

"We all admire the spangled acrobat with classical grace meticulously walking his tight rope in the talcum light; but how much rarer art there is in the sagging rope expert wearing scarecrow clothes and impersonating a grotesque drunk! I should know." (Vladimir Nabokov)
