A traveling vocal ensemble from Boyce College was first established in 1998. Originally known as the "Boyce Singers," the ensemble was renamed Aletheia - meaning "truth" - in 2000. Apart from a name change, the ensemble's capabilities have also developed over the past eight years. What began as merely a vocal team has developed into an elite ministry and performance ensemble. Though exemplary vocals remain at the heart of Aletheia's sound, most of the members are skilled instrumentalists and several have extensive experience as worship leaders in local church settings. The combination of these commendable qualities results in a worship leadership team which is equally adept at performance in a broad variety of musical styles ranging from contemporary acappella vocal arrangements to fully accompanied Christian rock.
While excellence in musical performance is a hallmark of Aletheia's ministry, its fundamental mission is to encourage local congregations through leadership in authentic and exuberant experiences of Christian worship. Aletheia combines contemporary arrangements of traditional hymnody with the most current songs of praise and worship in the concerts and worship services in which it ministers. Since 2003 a concerted effort has been made to record a sampling of this repertoire. Aletheia has produced three recordings. The collective repertory includes celebrated contemporary worship songs, a cappella and accompanied arrangements of traditional hymns, modern Christian hymns and original worship songs.
Aletheia travels regularly to churches throughout the Southern Baptist Convention. If your church would be interested in hosting this elite ministry team please contact Dr. Nathan H. Platt at Boyce College, 800 626 5525.
