Alexei Borisov - musician, sound-artist, composer, producer, event organizer, DJ, journalist etc........

Alexei Borisov was born in 1960 in Moscow, USSR. In 1983 he graduated from Moscow State University, History Department. He started his music career in 1980 as a guitarist of the first Moscow new-wave band THE CENTER. In 1981 with guitarist Dmitry Matzenov he organized THE PROSPEKT, big-beat-ska-mod band. In 1985 with the keyboard-player Ivan Sokolovsky he formed the first russian techno-industrial duo NOTCHNOI PROSPEKT. This project is still active, playing concerts and taking part at different festivals in Russia and Europe. Notchnoi Prospekt released two vinyl records, six cds and one MP3 collection of the recordings of the 80-s. Since the beginning of the 90-s Borisov takes part in electronic duo "F.R.U.I.T.S." (with Pavel Zhagun), which became wellknown in the world of experimental music. Among his latest projects should be mentioned electro-folk band VOLGA (with Angela Manukjan, Roman Lebedev, Uri Balashov), GOSPLAN TRIO with saxophonist Serguei Letov and experimental duo with Anton Nikkila from Finland. In 2000 Borisov and Nikkila formed "N&B Research Digest" record label. Among other Borisov' collaborations are the joint projects with the performance-group Nord (Russia), art-punk-noise band Rivushiye Struny (Screaming Strings) (Russia), noise-rock-indie band Motherfathers (Russia), Vladislav and Eugeny Makarov (Russia - Germany), Michael "Mox" Salnikov (Russia-UK), KK Null (Japan), Jeffrey Surak (USA), Leif Ellgren (Sweden), The New Blockaders (UK), Tania Stene (Norway), Gilles Aubry (Switzerland), Franz Pomassl (Austria), Adam Ebringer (Australia), Reto Mader (Switzerland), Al Margolis (USA), Dora Bleu (Canada), Kurt Leidwart (Russia), Thomas Buckner (USA), Kiwa (Estonia) and many others. Borisov also collaborates with the video-artists Roman Anikushin, Oleg Kornev, Natalia Poloka and Nikita Tsymbal, multimedia-artists Aristarh Chernishev and Vladislav Efimov, performance-artist Olga Kumeger, choreographer Natalia Shirokova.
Also Borisov plays solo and with different international projects, touring and taking part at such wellknown international festivals as SKIF (SPB/Moscow 2001-2007), ClubTransmediale (Berlin 2004), Sonar (Barcelona 2003), Avanto (Helsinki 2000-03), Phonotaktik (Vienna 2002), Prototype (Austria 2002), HUH Festival 2003 (Tallinn), Unsound 2004/2006 (Krakow), Mutek (Montreal 2005), Garage (Stralsund, Germany 2005), Noise and Fury (Moscow 2001-07), Radius (Vienna 2005, Saltzburg 2006), Erase and Reset (Berlin 2006), Eclectica (Tartu, Estonia 2007), Long Arms (Moscow 2007), Ethnomechanika (SPB 2008) etc. He also works as a DJ in clubs and on radio and contributes as a journalist to some russian and foreign magazines and newspapers.
