Into The Wild

Anyone seen "Into The Wild" directed by Sean Penn? I remember watching it thinking to myself that it felt like an experimental film, then came the end and I realized it was a true story!

OK, for those of you who haven't seen it, go watch it, it's great. And if you don't mind finding out the end, you may read on.

There's much to say, but I'll keep it short.

I was struck by the fact that this guy, Christopher, who had literally dumped his past in his quest for truth and authenticity, who was running away from his parents and from himself (he'd given himself another name - Alexander Supertramp), seemed to have found an answer in the form of 2 simple principles we read of in... Genesis!

1) Call everything by their name - the first command God gave Adam.
2) Happiness is real when shared - God said, 'It is not good for man to be alone' and he made him a companion.

These 2 principles helped him make peace with his parents and with himself, and so he found peace and truth, before he died.
