My boss told me this story.
A blind man was sat on the stairs leading to a building. He had put his hat down on the floor with a cardboard that read : "I'm blind, please help me."
An advertiser happened to walk by. He stopped and noticed that there were only a few coins in the hat. He bent down, poured in his spare change, then, without asking for permission, he took the cardboard, turned it over and wrote something else. The same afternoon, the ad man came back to visit the blind man and was pleased to see that the hat was now full of cash.
The blind man recognized him by his walking style and asked him if he was the one who'd re-written the message on the cardboard. The advertiser said : "It doesn't say anything that would be untrue; I've just re-worded your sentence.". He then smiled and left. The blind man never knew what the cardboard actually read -
"Today, it's spring, but I can't see it."
