Andy Mara . . a.k.a . . All Wheel Drive

Andy’s primary inspiration for music came at a very early age from his Father who was in fact, a DJ himself. Specializing in Disco, Funk, Jazz and the groovier side of Rock’n’Roll. However, it wasn’t until a move to Manchester and what was to become regular visits to the now legendary Hacienda that the idea of buying Turntables popped into Mind.
Upgrading from bedroom to club dj, Andy played clubs & bars all around Manchester and Leeds before taking an offer to cross the Channel and venture onto German territory. There, with Hamburg as his base he continued dj’ing on various circuits including Amsterdam, Ibiza, Barcelona and major events such as Love Parade, Mayday & G-Move which took him into the studio for the 1st time to experience the world of production.
Since making the move to the States Andy has been fortunate enough to have spun in various cities including Atlanta, New york, Philadelphia, Miami, Seattle & Tampa. Now a family man Andy is settled in St. Petersburg where he now calls home and is mastering the art of production under the moniker of “All Wheel Drive”. You Can catch him regularly at venues in Tampa Bay area especially the now infamous "SNATCH" nights at Hyde Park Cafe.
Keep your eyes and ears open for releases by All Wheel Drive as there are no brakes in this ride.

I've been dj'ing ever since i was able to afford to buy records. As a kid i'd mix tapes using one turntable from a regular Hi-Fi System. I'd dub the tracks together using the pause button on the cassette deck. It taught me how to read records . . . the architecture of Music is as mind blowing as any major piece of construction. It's a mental journey that i enjoy playing. I'm also more sound oriented that lyrically. Don't get me wrong . . . i love Vocals. They just have to be complex and/or really moving. You won't catch me playing "Peanut Butter Jelly".
Production is something i've only been doing for a year (since Summer 2006) and i know i have much to learn. I started producing after friend/producer James Scannell introduced me to "Reason" and while i still use it have begun to teach myself "Ableton" (live5) . If anyone has any tips for me using either program, my ears are as open as my mind!!
Recently (as of March 2008) i've been using "REASON 4" for my productions. Propellerheads have made some changes including a NEW SYNTHESIZER, ARPEGGIATOR, REGROOVE & very improved SEQUENCER. I highly recommend that anyone into serious music production give it a whirl . . . surprise is a guarantee!! I've completed the last three tracks i made, "Possible, Being & Shuffleboard" all using REASON 4. please use the comment facility available to let me know what you think about my tracks. All critic is welcome !!!
That's all for now . . . . i may add more from time to time.

Mmmmm Music. I'm seriously into a lot of electronic music, House, Tech-House, Progressive, Breaks, Electro, Techno, D & B, Acid Jazz, Trip-Hop, Hip hop (not rap), Ambient, Abstract (some). I'm also into Soul, Funk, Jazz, Blues, Gospel (i'm not religious but i love the voices) Dub, Reggae, Rock (some) & Classical.
Here's a few examples of artists that have had my head nodding during my time on this planet (in no particular order) - Tribe called Quest, Run DMC, The Roots, Black eyed Peas, Common, Mos Def, Fat Boys, Mantronix, Whodini, Sugarhill Gang, Big daddy Kane, Kool Moe dee, Kurtis Blow, Ice T, Black Sheep, Stetsasonic, Tone loc, Malcom Mclaren, 808 State, New Order, Depeche Mode, Electribe 101, A Guy Called Gerald, Doug Lazy.
