Anomaly in Effigy is a one man black metal project, originally simply called Effigy, started by Richard Frith circa 2002. Recordings started as a very simple, spontaneous, process with very limited means in a single room, using very basic equipment and has since remained as such. It was originally intended to pay tribute to the classic Norwegian style of BM, but has changed somewhat since then. Over time, Richard's interests were directed toward the real-world occult, and away from the primitive Satanism which fueled the movement of the early 90's. Principals of Eastern thought, the work of Aleister Crowley, and his promulgation of the law of Thelema began to play a significant role in writing lyrical content.
