ONLINE LINER NOTES

1. Starfucker, Happy Fucking Holidays.
Recorded by Josh Hodges.

2. Alan Singley, Ready for Winter
Recorded Dec 2, 2007 Jenelle Bird played flute! Thanks for getting this comp, see you in 2008!!!!

3. Tractor Operator, Little Drummer Boy
In the future, after the apocolypse, gypsies will sing old folk songs around desert campfires. Little wild haired kids will laugh and act shy. The adults will be dressed like the band manowar and play keytars along with the song, laughing quietly while playing. All will seem well until the water hungry bandits come over the hill in their dune-buggies, lazers blasting and the kids are all mowed down and converted to water while the adults are captured and sold into slavery.

4. Ben Barnett, Last Christmas in Portland
Recorded Dec. 2, 2007 with the Couch St. Gang

5. Lackthereof, Hello Christmastime!
Recorded by Danny Seim. Danny Sez: "Ok, I usually don't do very good with submitting things...without heaping on like ten thousand disclaimers. I'm completely biting my tongue right now. So here's my song. It's called "Hello Christmastime!", it's rough as hell, and it's all yours." Danny, it's SO GOOD!!!

6. Jonathan Drews, Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas
Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas, Recorded and mixed by Jonathan Drews in Nov. 2002 at the Harold House with "mastering" assistance by Jeff Stuart Saltzman.

7. Eleventeen, Santa Baby (Hipster Version)
Recorded by Carlos Segovia (of Tranquilazer) at Carlos' house. Time Spent: About an hour total. I have a tendency to accept the first take and move on to something else. Emilie Strange sez: "I chose to play "Santa Baby" because I think the idea behind the song is pretty funny-- here's some materialistic girl flirting with Santa Clause to get expensive stuff. It's ridiculous. Most versions of "Santa Baby" have horn sections bah-BOW-ing and a singer using an exaggerated "sexy" voice, and end up being rather irritating. I wanted to see what would happen if the sexiness was toned down and the instrumentation was simplified. Also, just because the idea amused me, I changed the lyrics to be about things I want (but probably won't get for Christmas or any other time, haha)."

8. Dragging an Ox through Water, I'll Be Home for Blue Christmas
Recorded at Teen Sports! No Rules! studio.

9. Adam Gnade, 'Twas the Night Before Christmas
Adam Gnade (banjo, 5-string drone guitar, vocals), Thaddeus Christian (electric guitar, shaker, wood percussion, hand claps, recording)

10. Nick Jaina, I Am Not Ashamed
"It's certainly not all that Christmas-y. More of a spiritual song."

11. Kaitlyn ni Donovan, "The Chipmunk Song (Christmas Don't Be Late)"
"The Chipmunk Song (Christmas Don't Be Late)", by Alvin and the Chipmunks. Recorded in a couple blustery days at The Nest by Kaitlyn ni Donovan and Jonathan Drews. Kaitlyn sez: "In choosing a Christmas song to cover I went my 1st instinct and the blissful "Spirit..." was it. "Do You Hear What I Hear?" was my second. I pay tribute to my mom who passed away on X-Mas eve by playing it on violin on at the end of the song. She sent a ( very applicable to the mental state of us ) Far Side holiday card one year and the caption was "Do you hear what I hear?"

12. Jeff Stuart Saltzman, Winter Wonderland
"I've always liked 'Winter Wonderland---the bridge in particular is very uplifting to me for some reason. I was trying to make something that sounded like Joe Meek producing Richard James."

13. Eskimo and Sons, Merry Christmas, Charlie Brown!
Dhani Rosa sez: "Our jam was recorded by us at the Gungle Dungeon. This song was done because we spent like, two weeks getting grumpy about what song to cover and I hadn't even thought of just writing one because writing usually takes too long. But when I tried, this just came out, you know? And there is something to be said of things that just pour out like that. It makes me feel real pure and good and wholesome and I really enjoy it."

14. Typhoon, Cantique de Noel
Tyler sez: "Recorded by devin gallagher and dave hall, december 2007 at the Boy Gorilla house in portland oregon and Devin's apartment. It's in home alone two!"

15. Jared Mees, Southwest Colorado
"This song was written in Panama about the Pajama Jama Beach Bash held every New Years Eve in my home town of Pagosa Springs, CO. My friend Josiah Payne from The Hot Strings plays mandolin while David Kelley (Eatsgods, Lions & Lambs) and Paul Lloyd belt the whiskey throated BGVs. Recorded in August 2005 at Attic Studios in Pagosa Springs, CO by Paul Lloyd."
