Aquariums - a collection of ambitious and intense personal songs in an experimental/acoustic style

The entirety was recorded in solitude at the various houses and apartments occupied by Schneider in the past year and a half. The genesis of the collection, 'Aquariums', was inspired by the haunting memoir of Kang Chol-Hwan details the tribulations of him and his family who were imprisoned in a hard labor camp in North Korea. Mr. Chol-Hwan languished there from the age of nine to eighteen. 'Aquariums' is about his life prior to his family's imprisonment. Reading about the cruelty of the people that surrounded him, even the children, was very disturbing. 'Escape' takes place after his release from the labor camp, and is about his journey out of North Korea into China and eventually to South Korea. Reading this book kick-started the creative process and is where the name for the project originated. The remainder of the collection, written to capture different emotions in musical form, includes '1991', 'Lovely Mother', and 'Love of a Brother'.

"Yet no sooner had the boy owner stepped away from the aquarium, when one of his guests plunged his hand into the water and ripped out one of the fish's eyes. The fish was to beautiful to live in someone else's aquarium."
-Kang Chol-Hwan-

"We all admire the spangled acrobat with classical grace meticulously walking his tight rope in the talcum light; but how much rarer art there is in the sagging rope expert wearing scarecrow clothes and impersonating a grotesque drunk! I should know." (Vladimir Nabokov) Thank you for your friendship! Musical greetings from Munich/Germany! Feel free to download my music!
