Austin Donohue

Austin Donohue, a Brooklyn based composer, songwriter & producer creates music that is passionate yet thoughtful, raw yet polished, solitary yet global. From the simplest love song to a sprawling cinematic composition, his work is imbued with a complete awe of the universe & an obsessive desire to understand the forces at work within it.

His live performances are evocative sensory experiences; whether performing with his full band of New York musicians, playing stripped down solo-acoustic shows, or presenting live laptop-symponies. Though his music is often compared to Radiohead, Coldplay, & Sigur Ros; Austin has forged a unique stylistic blend of guitar driven rock, pop melodies, cinematic atmospheres, and a danceable mix of live & electronic rhythms.

Born in the picturesque Appalachian mountains of Virginia, Austin grew up fascinated with 50s & 60s pop, the grunge era, & dramatic film music . Before re-locating to New York City, he attended The North Carolina School of the Arts Conservatory where he studied filmmaking and music; adding a distinctly cinematic quality to his compositions. His music & sound designs have been included in feature films, TV pilots & commercials as well as numerous modern dance performances &
theatre pieces. He recently provided music for the Dream for Darfur Torch Relay Campaign and a documentary about the Dutch artists' collective Antistrot.

In early 2008, Austin released the What If/Vibration Single, a collaboration with renowned producer Allen Farmelo, and has plans for
another release later this year, as well as extensive touring.
