Well, here it is Friday, thank goodness. Office work is one of those things that is often at both ends of the extreme - it is either dreadfully dull or dreadfully stressful - dreadfull in either case. This week for me, it has been both, depending on what day it was. Today happens to be a dreadfully dull one - at least as of yet. I know I shouldn't complain, because I know there are people like my father-in-law, my sister, my husband, my mother-in-law, who have to be up on their feet working all day, actually doing something physical. The only muscles I have to move in a day's time are my mouse-click fingers, and the dirtiest I ever have to get is the occasional romp with a copier toner. But still, it's mentally exhausting sitting here and feeling trapped by the clock. Much like your average lecture class in college or high school. Only no one is popping bubble gum.
In spite of my annoyance with the dull-and-stress routine, I do value the fact that I have a job with a paycheck. And, I got some relatively good news about it yesterday. Apparently, corporate has given the office here permission to retain "us temps" for another three months, with the potential of longer. It's a good feeling to have some sense of security, at least for the next few months. This doesn't mean they can't change their minds, of course, but at least it's something.
I finished reading Tony Thorne's book, TENERIFE TALES, this morning and sent off a review to him. I would recommend it to anyone who likes sci fi and anthologies, as it's really a good little read (Apparently, even your local Stormtroopers like it, according to the pics I saw on his website!). I am looking forward to having the chance to edit his next book. For more info on Tony's book, you can visit him on the web at http://www.tonythorne.co.uk/ His stories remind me of something falling somewhere between Ray Bradbury and Micheal Crichton.
This weekend will consist mostly of housecleaning - at least for Cissy and me while Joey is at work. I also want to catch up some of the laundry so I have some clean clothes to take with me to Ohio. Cissy is the only one who is already all packed up. It should be a fun trip, and we're all looking forward to it - except Maggie, as I'm sure she'll be suffering some major separation anxiety since she's staying with her "Grandma" and uncles Bru/Hunky, Milo, and Scruffy. We'll probably have to take her doggie bed and heating pad over there. Leave it to OUR dog to have such a princess complex that she won't sleep just anywhere. Even I don't have a heated mattress. But then, I don't run around in only a dog collar going to the bathroom on the floor either. There. How's THAT for a visual to end off your week. HA HA.
