Aweather means "towards the windward side". It's a maritime term. But we are A Weather, which means something slightly different, though we are still pretty maritime. We all are from Portland Oregon. We were all born in places other than Portland Oregon but we weren't a band until we were from here. Our lyrics have as much to do with the east coast as with the west coast. Our first full length record is coming out in a few months. In the mean time you can buy our 7-inch. Aaron's roomate's cat was put to sleep tonight because she had a bad liver disease and had stopped eating. She was eighteen years old and so had lived a full cat life.
Here are some extremely important things that have been said about us and then written down:
"While Cassadaga is one hell of a record, the best thing Conor Oberst has done this past year has been inking a deal with local bedroom whisperers A Weather." - Ezra Ace Caraeff, Portland Mercury
"This is probably already my 7inch of the year... Aaron Gerber is much more than an emerging new indie songwriter. He is that special someone you already know you will follow closely during the next years, one of these very few voices that, from now on, will always mean a lot for the rest of your life." -Didier Goudesune, Derives.net (Belgium)
"A Weather's songs are heart-stoppingly beautiful... How can a band that's this good-looking also be so good?" -Casey Jarman, Willamette Week Local Cut
"Like Ida with a little more blood in its veins or Red House Painters cut with edgy bits of noise and smoky female vocals, A Weather achieves something unsettling yet warm, a richly textured sound that's as charming as it is totally depressing." -Amy McCullough, Willamette Week
"The uninitiated can expect plenty of humble, hushed poetry from emerging bedroom bard Aaron Gerber and his female foil Sarah Winchester." -Tristan Staddon, The Portland Mercury

Sometimes when we are in cars or on the bus, we look out the window at how fast things are passing (like signs, trees or pet stores) and imagine how quickly these things would pass if we were running at top speed and in this way try to determine if we could run as fast as the vehicle that we are in. We are all very fast runners so usually the answer is 'yes'.
