Hey everybody,

I love autumn. It’s my favorite season. We had a great Halloween trick or treating with my son, the ghost1 and on Sunday we went to Camp Long, an amazing hidden valley over in West Seattle2.

It was a perfect fall day — the sun was shining, the forest was aglow and the walk was just the right length. The company couldn’t have been sweeter. And I realized it’s time to grow my beard again.

I’m very, very excited about two upcoming events:

The Lone Microphone

A singer/songwriter battle to the death! Three singer/songwriters enter, one leaves with the prize! Mayhem and mystery ensue! Nov. 10 @ 9pm.

Watch out! In addition to my set, one of Seattle’s great singer/songwriters AND guitarists, master of the slow burn, Josh Clauson has a set to break your heart. Oh, and have I mentioned that RL Heyer — Seattle’s best rock guitarist — is performing as well? If you haven’t had a chance to hear this man live, he’s about to blow your mind.

Additional Information:  The premise The Lone Microphone is an event series that brings together audiences that appreciate intimate and emotional performances with high-caliber solo performers. The rules Listen to the music. When I lived in Austin, I was struck by the fact that in music venues, the seats all face the stage. Those people listen. If you are talking (read: "chatting," not "making a comment to your neighbor"), move to the back of the room -- then you won't bother someone who is listening. Support the performers.  We ask for donations of $5 -- that's low enough that most people can pay it without pain, and high enough that taken together it can make a sizable pot. If you can't pay $5 tonight, pay $3, or $2. Or finally, if the choice is between donating or buying a beer, buy the beer! Next time. Vote for your favorite set.  You vote by giving the artist your E-mail address. You can give your address to more than one performer, but please don't submit it twice to the same performer (it just makes it harder to count). At the end of the night we'll count the votes and the winner takes the door money.
