Aaron's Rockin n' Life in Review:
seasonscollide/2 horrible crashes/afterparty 07/03/08 @ Half Shell
-D- (my girlfriend Deb, the other d) and I go to seasonscollide @ Half Shell. We were told it was free. We get to the door and they want a $5 cover. Well I am broke and so is -d-. I call Deb and Dave and let them know and that we are leaving. We go the the parking lot and open the bottle of red that I brought and start drinking it, in big swigs. Deb and Dave call back and say they will pay for our way in. After so convincing -d- that it is ok that my best friend and her boyfriend pay for our way in is fine and we will get them back... We drink a big swig of red and head to the show.
We get in and head to the bar. There is a band already playing, and they sound shitty. I ask around to see if seasonscollide played. I see some friends, Sheri and Bobby and others from Substance nights. I am told that seasonscollide already played. And that they were really good. Shoegaze noise heaven is missed. I am truly disappointed because the band on stage isn't good. I won't mention their name because I am not that kind of critic. I will say they sound like No Doubt crashing into Concrete Blond though. A horrible wreck............no one lives.. and I don't like the No Doubt style any ways so I am not in mourning.
We are chilling at the bar. I have only 3 bucks on me and ask for a Yuengling and it is 4 bucks. The bartender pays the other dollar for my beer. Who ever you are bartender women you are an angel and the Half Shell rocks because of you!!
The next band goes on stage and they are a bass and drum band. No not electro drum n' bass. But a 2 piece band one playing bass the other playing drums. It was like a other crash and this one I had to walk away from. Plus I hate jam bands and this bands jam is rancid.
Rodrick of seasonscollide has invited us out to an afterparty. So we all leave and go that way. I love the Half Shell for its bartenders but the music they let be played on the stage make me say fuckin Aye and go my way. (Cheesy lyric or lymric..your choice)
We make are way to the afterparty. And the house is fucking awesome. It is four levels a ton of rooms and an awesome deck looking out to the Chesapeake Bay. There is tons of drinks flowing, beer, vodka. Great conversations and dancing. I am digging the art in the house and the host makes me a wicked screwdriver. I get really wasted and have a blast. Morrissey is in the in air and then we all sing the American Anthem. Oh say can you see how I love having times like this. My friends, my love and wicked awesome good times.
