2kX Resolve

Hey guys.

Do you take all of this shit I say seriously? I remember once a dude asked me on MySpace if I was dating SierraEmerge. As awesome as that would be, it was pretty funny to me that a dude would ask me that based on a MySpace profile and a WordPress blog. I mean, I mean a lot of this shit that I say, but I say it in a joking way, and a ton of people don’t take me seriously. Obviously with reason, so when people take me seriously, it tickles me.

Tomorrow is the last day of 2010. I hope all of you guys have come up with a good resolution for the year ahead. I like to come up with a list. I feel like I could potentially be more productive if I do that. My main resolution this year is to think that less girls are hot. I know you’re like “this must be one of those times that I can’t take you seriously”, but do it. Take me to this mindset you have known as serious. Actually, I’m already there. You meet me. So who’s gonna be hot to me next year, you ask…? The answer is simple. Models, slutty girls, Taylor Stradling and Sierra. Slutty girls aren’t necessarily hot, they’re just slutty and for some reason that’s okay. And y’all niggas are gonna come at me now saying that you hate sluts and shit, but how did they get there? HOW!? Okay.

Some other miscellaneous goals for 2010: do vocals for a band, buy DJ equipment(Technics 1200/1210 decks, sweet mixer, maybe Serato), win a trivia night, record another band’s demo, find a better job than Best Buy(which is a great place to work, no kidding), and listen to more music. I always forget how much I love music until it’s time for something like this, where I am trying to figure out the shit that I want for myself. Speaking of wanting shit for myself, I’m adding a car to this list.

I want to say more serious shit, but I’m running out of it. Do you guys think I would be good at stand up? This question is primarily geared toward people who actually know me. I know I often say offensive shit and that my mind isn’t always in order, but when it is, I can be pretty on point! Tis a promise!

One Word Band Names

Good evening! It appears the the supposed birthday of our lord and savior Jesus Christ is almost upon us.  Hope you brought cake! I haven’t been to church on Christmas in forfuckingever, but do they have cake when you go? Or do you just praise? I vote they should have cake. Send me to hell if necessary.

Another cool thing about this period of time is that a lot of bands that my friends are in are doing things. Let’s talk about the first one, since this person is probably the least of my friends(but I act like they’re the most of it). VersaEmerge just came out with a music video for their song “Whisperer”. I know I’m always acting like Sierra’s my girl and shit, and she is, she will get me into her shows for free and stuff, but we’ve really only ever seen each other twice. So if I can in a way admit defeat, this is it. Don’t think I’m giving up though. I’m just waiting on E.V.A. to get signed so that she can feel like we’re in similar places in life….or something.

Up next! This band from Charleston called “Barriers”. Let me preface anything I say by saying that I really like the name of the band. One word band names always get me. My friend Tyler, from my fave band Ophira decided to ‘prank’ call me and ask me if I wanted to do vocals for this band and I was very confused. The fact of the matter is that the vocalist that they have now….is not very good. They are super duper heavy and the songwriting is amazing. I love everything….except the vocals. They sound so forced, like he’s trying to push something out that isn’t actually there. Take that phrase how you want, but it just seems like a lot of work for something that should come out super seamlessly. Whenever these guys start to play shows, I’m moshing. See you there.

Next up! Fucking Rawhide. Another Charleston band. The actual “friend” of mine is Alex, the vocalist. Super cool dude. Anyway, they ALSO just got out of the studio and have some tracks up on their MySpace. My initial response was that they weren’t going to be very good. The thing about Rawhide is that they need a second guitarist…really fucking bad, so I was expecting it to sound empty. It actually all turned out pretty good. It’s all pretty well put together. Just loud and fast and pretty good. They call themselves “blashcore”, which means: blackened, thrashy, hardcore. That’s a pretty good description of the band. Hope you guys enjoy it like I did. I also hope they get a second guitarist.

Back in the days of this electronic hardcore thing I was doing called “Robo Reptar”, I made friends with this kid Jonny who was doing vocals and making beats for this other heavy electronic thing called “The Browning”. It’s That Time Again

I just want to inform everyone that Sierra is still legal. And I’m excited about that.

She’s +1 right now. That’s 19.

My favorite thing about Sierra is that she doesn’t wear boots with jeans. My second favorite thing about her is that she and I are going to start dating in 2010. My other favorite thing about her is her band, I guess. They’re really good, if you haven’t heard them. VersaEmerge is the name. I have been listening to them since they had a dude singer, so no bandwagon jumping here.

Let’s get back to this boots/jeans thing. Girls, don’t do that shit. It looks uncomfortable and isn’t stylish. If you’re gonna do it, just make sure your jeans are skinny enough or your boots are loose enough to not bunch up. Don’t feel bad about buying new clothes to look stylish. I love girls who have a sense of style. I’m gonna make fashion over function tee shirts. Pre orders start now. I haven’t made the design yet, but I will soon.

My least favorite thing about Sierra is that I can’t ever find a picture of her unless she’s performing or with some random person. I don’t mind pictures with animals, but all these people…I just can’t take it!

Yeah. Happy birthday sweetweart. I used to love when people would ask me if you were really my girlfriend, but I was sad to respond with no. So let me take you to Sweet Tomatoes and a pretty good movie so we can begin this life together!

NewlyYears

Hey guys!

I wrote a post earlier on Hiro, my HTC Hero, and apparently the app sucks and doesn’t save drafts very well, so the whole thing was deleted…so here I am doing a round 2. This time, I’m sitting on a 15 inch MacBook Pro. I would really like to own one of these, and I’m going to save money until I can purchase one of these things. That’ll be super swell.

How are things going for you? Hopefully all is well. I know this post seems very upbeat, but I am by no means feeling as such. Let’s get into this post though. What are you guys anticipating as presents for whatever holiday you celebrate? Hopefully something good, right? I have no anticipations, but any gift is a good one. Hopefully everyone who doesn’t have a PS3 is going to be getting one of those, or at least trading in whatever gifts they did get for one, because we all know that would undoubtedly be the best move to make. What are some super hot PS3 games coming out soon? I know that Final Fantasy 13 is going to be rolling out soon, so I’ll end this paragraph on that note:

I really hate Winter. It’s definitely my least favorite season, even living in the South where it’s basically warm all the time. My personal favorite season is Autumn/Fall. I really dig how that weather feels during that period, and the leaf changing color thing is sick as fuck. That’s the season where ugly girls are overshadowed by girls who have any sense of style, and I can try my best to….flaunt my amazing personality. Yes, my personality is amazing. And yes, fuck you too.

New Year is coming up. 2kX is on it’s way! Are you excited? I am! I was hoping that the 2k series of games would call 2010 sports games 2kX, and they didn’t. That’s a shame. Right now I’m trying to figure out when someone is going to hop on one of my ideas and I can be pissed about it when I see it on tv. Terrible example, but here’s one: the Snuggie. My grandma saw a commercial for the god awful Snuggie and was like, I’ve been doing that for years! All it is is wearing a robe backwards!
Fucking backwards. It’s that simple. My grandma was pissssssssed. It was pretty funny.

Anyway, what’s up with resolutions for the year ahead? I had some written up, but I have already forgotten them…so let’s try again:
Firstly, I would like to have…website domination. If this blog could become a bit more popular, that would be sick. I guess that requires a bit more marketing or whatever, but that’s something I’m not interested in at all!
Secondly, I would enjoy going on a tour. A legit tour, not one like the one I went on with Darling Waste where I played no shows and sat cooped up in a basement in New York for 2 weeks, but one where I’m playing shows and having a good time. I hope that band never gets any sort of popularity or recognition. Terrible part of my life.
Thirdly, where the fuck you at Sierra!?!?!?!? You’re a resolution @SierraVE! Let’s work on that shit!

Why Z Isn’t The Best Letter

Good morrow! How does the world turn for you guys today? Hopefully at it’s same ol’ pace. You know when you’re having a shitty day, or even a fucking awesome day, and time moves at a weird pace? Hopefully neither of those things are going on, because a day at a normal pace is long enough, and a day that went by too quickly is a wasted day. Mind games are bullshit.

You guys remember that band that I’m in that you always try to make fun of? We’re the shit. Our EP, The Manifest DestinEP, is getting pressed currently, and we have more tee designs on the way. You know what my favorite letter of the alphabet is? J. It’s J. You know what letter I want to write about on here? Fucking Z. Z is such a sick letter. The reason I can’t down with z is because it doesn’t have enough followers. When niggas were making words, they were like, “All the vibration on my tongue from the zZzZzZ sound make my tongue numb, and that shit ain’t cool.” Apparently once the ceremony was over, people were starting to notice that they have a whole page of text without a Z in it. It’s pretty ridiculous.

Do any of you guys listen to powerpop at all? I fucking don’t, but I have some friends, mostly girls, who do. I’ve been to many a powerpop show and the people there are so friendly and you’re never sure if the girls there are flirting with you or not and there’s always that one fat girl who’s really tight with the band and thinks she’s really hot but actually isn’t and the dudes who are there and sing along like they are feeling the fuck out of whatever the guys in the band are saying when nine times out of ten they were previously in a failed hardcore band and just want to try to make money or hop bandwagon then they remain local forever and their lives suck and on top of that…ON TOP OF THAT…I have some friends who just recorded a song, I guess they’re in a powerpop band and are looking for a vocalist. So if you love any of those things or think that I’m ridiculous for posting such a run-on sentence, or actually like the music and can sing…fucking listen to it and hit them up. Team Player

Hey guys.

I know I’m always posting bullshit, but I think I’m going to post something worth talking about today. I know I’m always talking about how I love Trophy Scars and whatnot….well, the other day, I acquired some old shit, and it’s so good! Another thing that is really good is Frito’s. Only the regular kind though, the flavors suck pretty hard.

Lately, I’ve been trying to hang out with some people, especially people on the female persuasion, and they, for some reason, always give out a pretty similar excuse. They’re all too busy. Too busy with school, too busy with life, work, supporting themselves, and everything the fuck else. I’m not sure if they’re making an excuse, and if you are making an excuse and don’t want to tell me, just say “I’m really not interested in hanging out, Dave”, or something similar. I can take it. Niggas have been calling me a creep for years. The point of this preface is for me to state my confusion with the idea of people being too busy to have friends. In my mind, you can achieve anything you want, be whatever or whoever you want to be, and still be able to enjoy the little things. What’s blowing me right now is how these people don’t even have time for their best friends or girlfriends/boyfriends anymore. All I want to know is what kind of goals are you trying to achieve that actually leave you friendless? At the end of the day, is that what you want? “The road was hard, unpaved even, and I lost a lot of friends along the way, but it was worth it.” Maybe I value friendship too much, or maybe it’s not irrational for someone to want to take a small break from the world to have another person tell them a few jokes and eat a god damn burrito. I didn’t know success was worth the loss.  For everyone who doesn’t like me, I know you’re like “Stop whining, you’re a pussy, a creep, and girls hate you”, and I just want to tell you that you probably need to reevaluate your life.

It’s ANdroid, not Droid. Come on!

Hey. How’s everyone doing? I hope that all is going well. I’m listening to Mogwai, and you should, too.

Lately, I’ve been noticing that a lot of people are beginning to acquire Android phones. Android is an operating system made by google that has been put on a few cell phones recently, such as the G1, HTC Hero, and the Droid. All of those phones are Android phones and fucking sick and I would advise you to get one over the iPhone. All I need is for google to come out with something like BlackBerry Messenger, I’m gonna call it “Android Messenger”, and I’m gonna drop Sandy Silverberry and use Hiro all the time. I’m glad for that. What I know I’m gonna be sick of is when people see my phone, they’re always gonna be like “Is that the Droid?” or “You have the Droid, right?”…I have an ANdroid phone, but not THE Droid. E.V.A played a show on Saturday night. I’m sure you figured that out, based on the flyers that I had posted. We killed it, of course. Rollin’ by Limp Bizkit was our cover. Cover album coming soon? Naw. Anyway, let me tell you about some of the other bands that played. Ophira did an outstanding job, especially for their first show. They had a pretty hefty light setup that went well with the vibe of their set. Outside of that, they were really tight and well put together. You know one of those sets where all of the songs just flow into each other? Would it be redundant for me to say that that’s what they did, after I asked about that type of set? Probably, so I won’t say it. Asking Alexandria has a lot of breakdowns. They also took all of my underaged girls from me. Damn Europeans. Do girls in Europe go crazy for American dudes? Probably not. Long story short, Aki Hoshino.

Continuing onward. Someone should tell me about some really good bands or albums that have dropped recently that I should probably listen to. Also, if anyone knows where I could cop a MacBook Pro for mad cheap, that’d be dope as well. I really want to make the switch to a Mac, but I just haven’t had the funds. I feel like that’s a problem many people face. And to anyone who has a PC and can afford a Mac, you’re a fool if you don’t cop one. Don’t get the iPhone though. That’s unnecessary.

Hawt or Nawt

Hey guys, I know it’s been a while. If it hasn’t been a while, it at least feels like one. How’s everyone doing? I hope that this post can provide you with some entertainment.

First off, does anyone remember about 6 months ago when I posted about an event known as “Kulture Klash” that we have bi-annually in Charleston? Well, I’ll link you to it. It was in March, the post was titled Kulture Klash Makes Kash. I made a big deal about how fucking dope it was and all of that, and Kulture Klash 5, which I had dubbed #kkv, was recently. I’m gonna have to say that it was by no means as dope as the previous ones. This one was bike culture inspired and even though a few of my friends participated in it, it was still not awesome. There was a lot of good art around, but everything else was lacking. Some of my dj friends, The Bubblegut Brothers, and my good friend @JeffET (which is also his dj name), really put it down…but a lot of the other things going on were pretty whack. #kkv was about enthusiasts and not about your everyday person who thinks that art shows and djs are cool and that hipster girls are hot. So I’m gonna have to say that #kkv was NAWT rockin this year. Better luck next year. I will be attending.

South Florida is My Favorite State

So I’m chillin out, watching the Simpsons, trying to find a girl to hit on on MySpace, and I come across a bulletin by this band I’m really into called Oceana. They broke up recently, but the news has arrived that they are back together! I was so excited that I took a print screen of the bulletin and I’m posting it here now:

It’s the first day of November. How exciting, right? I’m excited. November is legit as fuck. Every month is, really…except August. No holidays. My birthday though is in August, though. I’m super down with September-November because of the weather. I’m down with being cold and then getting hot and then doing it again, and every Sunday being cool and breezy. That’s Charleston weather. High of 80, low of 45, and 70 all day on Sunday with a decent breeze. Who the fuck wouldn’t like that? People who get sick, I guess…..

Speaking of being sick, are people seriously still getting the swine flu still? Can I call it that? Is my shit gonna get censored to say “H1N1″? That’d be lame. But basically, fuck y’all….swine flu is stupid and everyone who has it should know how the fuck to avoid it by now. I know you’re like, “Damn Dave, you’re harsh.” That’s fine.

Halloween was last night. It should be called, all girls should dress slutty and all dudes drink themselves into a coma and ugly girls stay home…day. Because all of those things should be in effect. Charleston in general is littered with many a fine female, and many a keg drinkin male, but some people….some people!…just aren’t as in those demographics as others. And I don’t hate you guys, dressing slutty just isn’t in your cards.

I guess I can start shamelessly promoting my 2 shows I have coming up. Firstly, FIRSTLY! November 14th! EVA is puttin’ it down at The Oasis in good ol’ James Island!!!!!!! JAMES ISLAND! THE OASIS! NOVEMEBER 14th! EVA! We’re playing with Ophira for their first show, and In Regret, this super legit hardcore band from Columbia, SC. Atop that, we are also playing with a new Charleston band called Cavalry who I can’t say anything about because I’ve never listened to them. I guess the bands that matter or whatever you wanna call it, the reason for such a great lineup for a show, are Asking Alexandria(who I’ve also never heard) and For The Fallen Dreams. So, come out and fucking mosh and watch me fight someone.

OH, and by the by, I purchased myself a new BlackBerry. Her name is Sandy Silverberry. Her pin number, which is also located on my sidebar is: 20A5A896. So think of this as a Bye-bye to Bruno and a Hello to Hiro and a Salutations to Sandy!

At the end of today, I want everyone to remember that it’s fucking November and none of the shit you do today will matter in December, so have fucking fun.
