Contrary to popular opinion, good art doesn't just happen. I don't care who you are.

Even instances where an artist will say that a top 40 hit "just came to me" or that a screenplay just "wrote itself," that's only part of the truth. A more robust picture of the truth would include the hours upon hours of practice and discipline required to develop the skill that allows for the occasional spontaneous combustion called "art."

Practice weaves the canvas for great paintings to happen.
