However, I am saving up for a trip to Japan next summer, and I will catch the Fuji Rock festival while there. So hopefully they play Coachella on the way home after their South American tour and grace the desert with songs that were played in Japan but not in America like "Blow Out" and "Fog."

Highlights of the In Rainbows tour (well, the gigs I attended):
-True Love Waits, Tell Me Why, and finally TALK SHOW HOST in Hollywood
-seeing the new lights in person before in pics because I was at the first gig
-chanting "TRUE LOVE WAITS! TRUE LOVE WAITS!" repeatedly before "Everything in it's Right Place", only for Thom to say "Just cuz you're down in front, mate." *plays two notes* "It's a nice idea, though, I'll admit."

Points of interest:
1. My Bloody Valentine tickets went on sale a couple weeks ago and still are on-sale. Except in Chicago, which is sold out. Last I checked the other shows were not. SO GO BUY A FUCKING TICKET! It'll be another 16 years before they tour again, if ever. Do not miss them.

2. According to Product Shop NYC David Byrne and Brian Eno will be touring this fall, and they have proof: the first date!

3. As mentioned two posts below, Asobi Seksu will be releasing their upcoming album this fall on Polyvinyl. Also, Yuki Chikudate, Asobi Seksu's lovely lead singer told me via myspace that the previous albums are, in fact, finally going to be released on vinyl, and that all future albums will be on the vinyl format at the same time. And speaking of Coachella, Yuki said "Coachella would be amazing", so please finally book them, Goldenvoice! The vinyl releases have me very excited because I can't wait to hear how warm they sound and imagine having full-size versions of Sean McCabe's killer cover art:

Seriously, WTF? Kraftwerk vs Animal Collective vs M.I.A.? Rilo Kiley vs Islands? Metric vs Spiritualized? And the only two subheadliners on Sunday conflict with each other. I don't care much about either, but I thought that only happens at ACL and Lollapalooza.

And according to this google cache, it will be much less crowded at Coachella this year. Well, that's good. For us. Not so much Goldenvoice, so it's bad. And Roger Waters will have pyrotechnics. And there will be several surprise speakers, presumably talking about the wonder of going green, before all the kids taking the train depart to Indio, including Jeff Spicoli. Oh yeah, Sean Penn is also "playing" on Sunday. Twice.

According to Pitchfork, Asobi Seksu will "Stay Awake" and return to the studio to June to record their third album after some well-earned rest. Only this time under a new US label: Polyvinyl Records. Hopefully Polyvinyl will live up to their namesake and release the much-anticipated album on the format beloved by the band and fans such as myself: vinyl.

The only upcoming performance I could find is at the Norwegian Quart Festival, with acts such as Gnarls Barkley, Justice, Interpol, Death Cab for Cutie, and...Cradle of Filth. And the news gets even better. This year, Goldenvoice and Amtrak have teamed up in a manner normally reserved for comic books to provide a FREE TRAIN departing Los Angeles Thursday afternoon, arriving in Indio, where shuttles will take the campers to the site. And the shuttles will take them back to the station Monday morning. They are creating a temporary train platform just for this. And did I mention that it doesn't cost us anything? I would like to take this opportunity to take back any apologize to Goldenvoice for any expressed doubts and disappointments regarding the way things turned out this year. Sure, there's still a lot of "WTF?" lineup omissions (sometimes this is the band's fault, though, like My Bloody Valentine being flakey), fewer subheadliners, more repeat acts, and a higher number of acts I truly despise than usual (JACK JOHNSON), but despite all this, Coachella is still the best of all the American festivals announced so far. Why? Two things:
1. Rare/unique acts that other fests don't have (or nowhere else in America has) like Portishead, The Verve, Kraftwerk, Aphex Twin, Goldfrapp, Fatboy Slim, Love & Rockets
2. Doing something really above and beyond like giving us free train rides and shuttles from LA to Indio. Paying $25 each way would have been a bargain, but free? Wow. Three good headliners and NO JACK JOHNSON? I only wish I could afford to attend. I'll give your fest the best review ever if you fly me out there! Worth a try, I know. Anyways, quite solid and no real "eww, wtf?" issues. I'm jealous that they get Beirut and R.E.M. and Coachella doesn't.

Apparently the Presidents of the USA are still alive? Wow. And there's a band called "Awesome"...
