About

Bopstar, emergent DJ/Producer/Composer and Soul Heaven resident and recording artist, came up under the twin wings of Phil Asher (restless soul) and Afronaut (Bugz In The Attic). His first single ‘Octavia’, was picked up by Phil for the restless soul label in 2007, and remixed for Co-op, the label arm of the legendary club, where it gained minor anthem status. The next Bopstar track, ‘Chiaroscuro’, was championed by Benji B on his BBC 1Xtra show, and came out on Unique Uncut’s Basement Soul compilation.

Bop then started the club night Patterns with Simbad, Kay Suzuki, and Afronaut, which in just a handful of sessions played host to Zansika, Phil Asher, Benji B, Marc Mac (4Hero), IG Culture (NSM), Mark De Clive Lowe, Bembe Segue, Domu, Bugz In The Attic, Fanatix, Ear Dis, Danny Native, and Jazzanova.

In 2008 he joined Deja Vu FM (www.vulive.co.uk) for a highly successful Sunday night radio show, playing mostly house, a touch of broken beat, a few classics, and the occasional slower joint.

As we move deeper into 2009, his new single ‘Captured’ (with restless soul remixes) has now been released on Soul Heaven records and proven an instant hit. He has also delivered one of the hottest remixes around on the UK scene, a more broken beat affair for Perempay and Dee’s ‘In The Air’. Add to that the forthcoming remix of Small Arms Fiya ft Pete Simpson, the next two Bopstar singles already completed and ready to go, a slew of unofficial remixes and re-edits, and his contribution of a bonus track to the Phlash & Friends album, and he’s still only getting warmed up.

With his magic bag of musical goodness, and a proven record of smashing it on the UK’s more discerning dance floors Bop’s DJ bookings have gone quickly from those few self initiated gigs in South East London to playing numerous spots each month, locally, nationally, and around the world.
