Borgia Disco

While working on the 10th SYRIA album, Christian Dörge began writing and recording his first BORGIA DISCO album - musically influenced by 60s soundtrack composers, 80s dark jazz-chansons and 90s trip-hop-attacks and lyrically still moving somewhere between cryptic Kafka machines, ghosts of Keats and Cocteau and the adventures of the cybernetic nightmare detectives, the songs are dominated by Christian Dörge´s distinctive vocals and electronic music systems, looped noises, distortions, reverberations and tea-girl melodies.
BORGIA DISCO is signed to Smart Bomb-Records, a 6-track-MCD called 'Utopia' and an album (featuring 16 songs) entitled 'Travels In The Scriptorium' were released on March 7th, 2008.
Christian Dörge has just finsished the recordings for a new e.p.-CD and album (both to be released in early 2009).

Weirdly Named Neo Psychedelic Epitaph

'Conversations With The Iron Orchid' - released through Smart Bomb-Records/Manufaktur Distribution on February 20th 2009 - is the second album from CHRISTIAN DÖRGE using the BORGIA DISCO name (and it's Part 2 of the 'Static Snow' we-got-three-records-fatalism album-trilogy). Clocking in at nearly 80 massive minutes, the album combines psychedelic electronic music with something like the lyrical walk on the weird side... supported by vocal guests ZASU and STINA SUNTLAND (from SYRIA and THE ATOMIC NURSES), RALF JESEK (from IN MY ROSARY and MARY'S COMIC) and the fabulous BLUFF DADDY, this new record is a living-in-the-interface affair with no garage rock flag-wavers, no apologies, no regrets, following just the abstract. BORGIA DISCOs playing is tight and accomplished, the harmonies are warm, but disturbing (paradox??), and the lyrics are melancholic, literature-driven and burlesque: BORGIA DISCO sounds like the protagonists are right there in the room with you.
But wait, that's not all, there's more to this neon slideshow & coin-operated psych-show: The album comes along with the 5-track bonus-CD 'The Ghost Of Multiple Feature' and the glittering mini-album 'Atomic' (including more of the Glam Goth tincture).
All in all an excellent package. Dig deep. It's a project like BORGIA DISCO that keeps music interesting.

A Menagerie Of Time And Space

A few days ago, Christian Dörge completed the recordings and mixings for the 2nd BORGIA DISCO album - and just like on 'Travels In The Scriptorium', BORGIA DISCO's fascinating debut, the project with the Bohemian name is always likely to flourish the art-pop dimensions. But BORGIA DISCO on album no. 2 is also multi-part suited, delightfully, parametric pop. And it's still difficult to pin down Christian Dörge - when you think you have him sussed, he seems to morph into a different music entity...

Among the numerous musical and lyrical highlights, vocal guests featuring on the new album are Zasu and Stina Suntland (well known as THE ATOMIC NURSES and - of course - as the supernatural, ironic power-pop ladies from the inward-inclined art-collective SYRIA) and Ralf Jesek, the singer and composer of the imperiously interleaved IN MY ROSARY (and of his alter ego MARY'S COMIC).

Smart Bomb-Records will release the 16-track album 'Conversations With The Iron Orchid' - accompanied by the 8-track mini-album 'Atomic' - in January 2009; initial copies of the album will also include the 5-track Bonus-CD 'The Ghost Of Multiple Feature'.

On this evidence, BORGIA DISCO will soon be the subject of widespread examination again.

Hi, guys,
I put some remixing hands on a song by MARY'S COMIC that I really like - it´s called 'Ich Habe (Angst)' and appeared originally on the debut album 'Perfect Vacation' (released in 2007 through SyborgMusic). Check out www.marys-comic.de to download the remix that I recorded in May 2008 (shortly after completing most of the recordings and mixings for the up-coming 2nd BORGIA DISCO album) - it's for free!
