turn or burn!!!!!!

so I was thinking about this whole turn or burn idea. This whole idea that if you don't get "saved" or say a prayer you are going to face eternity in the fiery pits of hell. That seems to be the message of the "church." that is what we have to get across to people. that is our method for spreading our faith and extending the kingdom of God. first off I think it is funny that our medium for advancement is fear and we wonder why people compare us to the evil empires. Second I can't seem to settle the idea that we are punished infinitely for sin that is commited in a very finite period. the bible says our life is but a vapor but then we are punished forever and ever and ever for that vapor. I am not sure how God could be considered just if that is the case. Maybe I am just blind but I don't see it. I am not saying that there is no hell or there isn't consequences for our decisions but the traditional view of hell seems to have some pretty big holes and little grace and justice at least in my mind. The other big problem is that the whole idea doesn't seem to be comparable to the message that jesus preached. In his "evangelism did ever say listen this is the good news if you don't quit making mistakes I am going to send you to burn eternally in hell. Sounds like really good news to me I mean seriously it makes me feel all warm and fuzzy inside. He spents so much time talking about life and the fact that the kingdom of God/heaven was upon them now. Why wouldn't we want to follow his example and preach what he preached or live what he lived and preached. Who knows I am just thinking.
