We are supported by lasers, decoration, blacklights, visuals (including our favorites from DepthCORE.)
We wrapped up our final rehearsal last night. Set list is incredible and we are as pumped as it gets. We leave tomm. morning to drive 550 KM (340 miles) to Berlin.
We will report to the operations office, get paid and head straight to the Artists area where we will set up camp. We will be in the same zone as many of our influences including artists that are on our playlist.
Hopefully we will be there by sundown and enjoy the evening sunset, party vibe and fireworks show. We will party hard through the night, wobble back to our tent and pass the fiz-uk out. Wake up, got to the catering area/bar eat, shower, go to photo session, and give our final details to the Ops Officer. (Playlist, stage props list, etc.)
Then we take a short break, work out the butterflies....and take the stage for 4 hours. from 1600-20:00. Weather calls for high chance of showers during our set. That's good because the we have the only 'roof' from all 4 stages.
Our set begins with some custom tailored sound design. Made especially for the FMF. It is a pilot with a BAD ASS voice, talking over the intercom. Saying; 'Good afternoon ladies and Gentlemen...welcome on board, FULL-MOON flight 1 7 zero 7 8. blah blah...prepare for take off. then the engines roar, we roll down the runway supported by nose wheel camera video and as soon as we break the clouds, our set starts with Vision Quest by Jonn Serrie. A wicked song with an eagle cry beginning....
We move through an earthy set start. All songs having natural sounds and animals worked in. We morph the set into Phase 2: with sleek, chromy chillout that's beat orientated then into the 'Chill-House' section. That's about 45 mins to an hour, depending on how the crowd takes it.
In between are interludes of the Pilot coming on explaining flight plan, look outside the starboard windows stuff, and clear for descent in flight announcements. We land, play the thank you for flying with us stuff, and end the set with a return to the earthy sound.
Then....it's the REAL party time. All night long. Friday is the day we hang primarily in the artists area, to talk to the people we can to promote BrainStorm and depthCORE too.
It is a massive festival with unreal resources, and it is ours for the enjoyment as of tomorrow. These are enchanting hours that ween us to the biggest event I have ever performed. The days are long with strong sun rays that shine down and the evenings on my plant filled balcony listening to crickets doesn't hurt, either.
My theory is to go there for the experience, and not the crowd. To capture the overall enlightening experience from unique perspectives and to allow the nervousness to be washed away from the sheer joy in it's simplicity, if done correctly.
We can't begin to explain the amount of prep work we have put into this. It is now time to ease the throttle back from it's screaming full military power to a deafening roar as we slow the p0d down to take in the rest needed before our final boarding call, on this flight.
Ultimately there is one outcome...what we choose to make it and hoping for the grace to come our way.
