Morgan Freeman is new Hero of the Day

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FO214IFRW1M

Watch this video. Morgan Freeman makes some excellent points some of which are very hard to hear and take, but seriously in the end, my heart sank and I realized his point: Racism will never stop until you stop making it a reality. Remove it from your minds and you remove it from existence.

Racism, prejudice, bigotry are all part of the same equation. As old prejudices remain and begin to die out (slowly), others come in to fill the void. We now face prejudice against homosexuality. Actually it's been around for years, thousands of years, but today it seems to be getting more attention. We struggle with two even three sides to the argument. In the end, it is still prejudice. Their crime is nothing more than not being a part of the majority crowd. But as Morgan Freeman would attest too, you cannot remove prejudice until you remove this "majority" idea.

It doesn't matter who founded the country or what ideals our country were founded on anymore. What matters is that each of us wants to be accepted for who they are. Each of use wants to be human. We want to exist and integrate with society without hindrance or bigotry. And exactly what makes this so difficult? Why is it hard for a person to see the abnormalities in another? Why must we make ourselves taller, superior than others based on these abnormalities? How exactly does a "black man" (excuse the remark) or a "homosexual" disrupt the daily routine of life? Why must our emotions be directed at those who are "different".

But we are all human. It is what Morgan Freeman declares here. His name is Morgan Freeman just as my name is David Klecker. He is a human being (an excellent and inspiration actor if I can add) and he exists. His color, race, creed, religion, sexual preference are for him and him alone and should not play a part in how another person judges him. We should judge by the character of the person. Perhaps in that we cannot see their character outright it requires work on our part to judge him. By seeing his color is makes our judgement easier.

If there is one thing that this world needs more than ever now is better social skills. How appropriate to improve on this skills in order to eliminate racism. Black History Month is ridiculous. It should be a continuing lesson not segregated into a whole month. All this does is attests to the idea that we are still talking about it.
