BIOGRAPHY
BreakBeatBuddha's music is a nod to the vibrant underground music movement and emerging culture of "awareness" worldwide. He is also responsible for some of the biggest dancefloor bangers to hail from the West Coast scene in recent years. With a signature style that draws on experience in the UK bass scene and fuses Dancehall, Dubstep, Bay Area Hyphy and Dirty South Crunk genres, 3B is credited for producing some of the deepest, darkest and sexiest music today.
Despite humble beginnings, the self-proclaimed BreakBeatBuddha has created a buzz within the worldwide electronic music scene. Born Anthony Traynor, 3B was raised in a public housing project in England's Wolverhampton. Amidst this often-dangerous environment, 3B reportedly found focus within the Graffiti and Hip Hop scenes. From thereon, he began a love affair with the Underground that would take him across the globe. 3B found the context for freedom from the repression that enveloped him, and tools with which to challenge that reality. He discovered that the music and art of the underground were powerful weapons in a revolutionary struggle for freedom of self.
3B took cues from the masters of underground electronica, including Derrick May (Godfather of Detroit Techno), Erik B & Rakim, KRS-1 and later, Drum and Bass producers, Dillinja and Goldie. His first gigs saw him playing warehouse parties in London, Manchester and Birmingham, cutting his teeth on live sets with the likes of Death in Vegas, the Capoiera Twins and holding down a notable residency at Brighton's infamous Zen Bar before blazing a trail way out West, where he found haven and inspiration in the Burning Man community. There, 3B set to work on creating a genre which embodied the rawness of the UK underground with the shifts and expansions in awareness he saw in the world around him.
"These are exciting times and it's not just about the 9-5 or having a wicked weekend anymore. People want more than just a party. We want empowerment. We want to be answered. We want authenticity. We are asking questions about our individual power and the potential we have as a collective. It's the next level, a conscious, empowered dance culture movement."
In 2007, 3B released his debut album, "Mind Bombin" (True Movement, 2007), which was followed by the release of "The New Resistance" EP earlier this year (True Movement, 2008). Mind Bombin featured collaborations with Bassnectar, among other artists; 3B has also released tracks on compilations alongside Talvin Singh and DJ Spooky. The release of 3B's first track "Buddha Bounce" (True Movement), with its swanky mid-tempo step, proved a hit in the States and abroad, reaching prime-time air play on BBC Radio 1's breakbeat show with Annie Nightingale. He tours consistently throughout North America's underground scene, Europe and will be embarking on a worldwide tour next year.

I called the album "Mind Bombin" not because I'm blowin people minds. Its an ode to my youth growing up on the streets of the UK as a Graffiti deviant and yet it reflects the shifts in my socio/spiritual political outlook as I made my way out of the streets to the West …

Here on the West Coast, we have a particularly unique situation and demographic of people. I'm specifically referencing this community of artists, activists, bohemians, spiritual practitioners, fashion designers and deviants of every shape and size. The freedom, …

"We all admire the spangled acrobat with classical grace meticulously walking his tight rope in the talcum light; but how much rarer art there is in the sagging rope expert wearing scarecrow clothes and impersonating a grotesque drunk! I should know." (Vladimir Nabokov)
