I miss Jesus, being unselfish, and praying/worshiping with other people in Spirit and in truth. Some part of me still remembers what that is, and it refuses to die.
We best learn to sing more strongly than we are. The last time I took a walk, I swear that the rocks beneath my feet were beginning to hum.

The chorus always guts me, burning my eyes with tears that I know are coming even before they arrive. I listen to the song purposefully, to be honest, but I don't think it's some maladaptive, unhealthy form of self-punishment, or a self-flagellation of my heart.
I …
Listen to the kids I work with, try not to counsel my wife in the same way, write when I can, get crafty & artistic by myself and with others, illustrate/design for Three Bears Design, sing whenever and wherever the heck I can, cook dishes involving ground pepper, sea salt, and insidious amounts of other, more exotic spices, and voraciously gorge myself on music, literature, and time with my friends.
Friendship. Forgiveness. Hope in that which was, that which is already here, and that which is to come. Creative expression and experience. Aesthetics and the arts. Cooking. Books and bookshelves. Monastic spirituality and intentional community (less buzzword, more sacrificial reality). Ancient/future worship. Trying to be teachable and unassured of my "wisdom". Seeking a deeper practice of the presence of God. Living in such a way that Jesus would be remembered, even as my face and name are forgotten. Theological, spiritual, and philosophical reflection, discipline, and discussion that translates into practicality, life-change, growth, social justice and encouragement. The wiping of scales from our eyes. Simplification, and becoming less and less of a rampant, media-controlled consumer. Alternative fuels and those things that can be powered by them (biodiesel and waste vegetable oil in particular). Learning, both in class and out. Listening as much as possible to NPR. Enjoying the products of musical exploration, development, challenge, and expression. Throwing my own high baritone into the ongoing polyphany.

Screen-print lithographs, take more photographs, play guitar, be quiet for a few days, carve things out of wood, be consistent in my pursuit of the awareness of the presence of God, and take daily long walks with my wife, my friends, and myself.

that would be lovely indeed! i have a very busy june- so it depends on what day you'll be seeing them... i have a wedding one of the days they're here- but hopefully it can happen! if not... we're close enough to each other that we should be ashamed of ourselves for never having our sexy asses in the same room at the same time.
