My name is Brent and I am a geek, but before this starts to sound like an AA confession, I wanted to clarify what I believe being a geek means to me. As I am glancing about the Internet, I have started to notice that being a geek might not be such a bad thing. It used to be that the geek was the nerdy kid in school that wore a pair of broken glasses, taped in the middle to hold them together and made a disgusting snorting sound when they laughed. The term nerd or geek in my generation was a way of referring to another in a derogatory or demeaning manner.
Suddenly, in recent years, we have begun to embrace the term and those affiliated with it in a much more respectful and playful light. Was I the class nerd? Probably, I was, but I don’t wear glasses and, as far as I can recall, have never made the quintessential ’snorting’ sound when I laugh. So then, I ask, what is it that defines a geek in this day and age? I will leave that to you, but for now, until my disillusionment is proven incorrect, I will continue to embrace the term and call myself a geek.
Born in the 70’s, raised on Pac Man, Pop Rocks & Purple Stuff, I hailed most of my young life in Washington State (eastern and western). Moved to Phoenix, AZ in 1994 and started my little design firm, Synergy, in 1998. Other than that, I play with techie gadgets, enjoy watching movies and catching the latest Pride fight when it is on. I have dabbled in just about every hobby known to man and most of them stuck enough for me to have enjoyed them and, if given the right motivation, to do just about any of them again. I enjoy a good video game and sometimes you can find me applying theatrical (usually scary) makeup for some sort of stage presentation. Generally I think I’m a pretty nice guy and always enjoy meeting new people (if there’s something interesting to talk about). All in all, I think I’m pretty normal, but I’ll let you judge for yourself. Thanks for stopping by. I look forward to talking to you soon!

Ahh... good point! I do agree. However, I think that I prefer it to think of it in it's "technology geek" form
