About

Brian Beyke is an American instrumental ambient solo guitarist, who began writing in Louisville, Kentucky in 2006. Brian relocated to Cincinnati, Ohio in 2004 for college and while on summer break started writing his first electric, looping style songs he’s come to be known for.

Brian quickly gained recognition for his live show where it was shown he could perform all the songs layered with multiple guitar and percussion tracks with out accompaniment. Brian’s trademark was his pedalboard which consisted of many loopers and guitar effect pedals that helped him shape his atmospheric and soundtrack-esque sound. He was most known on the internet through many musicians forums for his large, and neatly organized pedalboard which got him and his music international attention.

In Spring 2008 Brian traveled to many locations in Brazil playing guitar with his school’s concert choir, and had his first chance to share his music in person internationally.

Three years of playing his solo electric guitar style and Brian had never put out any recordings. He made scratch demos in his room which made their way to the social networks such as virb, purevolume, and myspace. Two “release” were titled, but never released.

In Winter of 2008 Brian finally went into the studio in Charleston, Illinois to record 18 tracks. Among those songs would include those two previous “releases”; “Four Seasons” and “Somewhere Between Space & Time.”

“Somewhere…” is Brian’s first three full songs written in his style, and are considered more spacey, a little more melodic, and all revolve around a space motif.

“Four Seasons” is four songs depicting the moods of the seasons. Moving backwards from Winter to Spring, Brian brings forth feeling and emotions of doubt to renewal.

“Four Seasons” will be released on July 24th, 2009. The first 100 cds will be hand-painted and hand-numbered in four different seasonal designs.

“Somewhere Between Space & Time” has a tentative release in November of 2009.

”What is music? Is it defined by repetitive chords and words of lament? Experimental electric guitarist Brian Beyke has taken a different road. Hailing from Louisville, Kentucky, Brian has been living in and playing around the Cincinnati, Ohio area. Playing in and out of coffee shops and the occasional small venue, Brian is looking to start setting his own ground. With each song telling its own unique and personal story, Brian puts his emotions not into words, but into swirling effects and looping guitar tracks. Get caught up in it.”

I have also uploaded a few more (old) show pictures for your visual pleasure.

While I am not doing solo you can catch me writing and playing shows with my band, Still Pioneers http://www.myspace.com/stillpioneers

Since 2007 I have picked up endorsements with the following companies: GFS Pickups, Lava Cable, Cusack Music, and Dr. Scientist Pedals.

"We all admire the spangled acrobat with classical grace meticulously walking his tight rope in the talcum light; but how much rarer art there is in the sagging rope expert wearing scarecrow clothes and impersonating a grotesque drunk! I should know."
