The plan was to meet my parents halfway between Joplin & Tulsa so that the boys could spend the weekend with them. We got out of Tulsa just as a big storm was about to hit. It was right behind us the whole way (a typical storm that follows I-44). We met my parents in the thriving metropolis of Vinita. They took off quickly to stay ahead of the storm. We didn't want to turn around and drive into the heart of it, so we pulled into Clanton's Cafe. It's the oldest OK restaurant built on the old Route 66. It was clear when we walked-in that we were the outsiders. Why did I wear slacks and not overalls that day? It hailed pretty hard and there was even a tornado a little ways away, but we had some good 'ol country cooking. It was really good. We waited for about 15 minutes after we finished & then drove off into sunshine.
Beth & I had some really good time together this weekend. We did some house chores, slept-in, went to our Good Friday prayer stations, and got to have dinner with some former youth group members last night. it was great.
