I would have never thought that I'd be hooked on a Sinead O'Conner cd, but here I am.
I read an article about her three weeks ago that spiked my interest. She talked about her difficult upbringing, her infamous SNL moment (ripping a picture of the Pope) that took place 20 years ago, and talked about how she believes the God of the OT is often misunderstood. She believes God is loving and kind, and she says, "I have so much to be forgiven of." As a child, she experienced lots of pain and hurt. In these times, she used to picture the blood of Jesus flowing from his heart to hers.
Her latest CD is titled "Theology." I don't adhere to all of her beliefs, but I can appreciate her journey, and the CD has been strangely refreshing for me. I think what captures me the most is that God moves in people's lives. He can enter and move in the messy, strange & unlikely places. And He can move my heart to stillness and contemplation through the music & reflection of an Irish musician with a shaved head & unruly past. I love that God is like that.
By the way, the wedding I was part of last Friday was so much fun. The families are great & there were many good friends there. I had a great time being part of it, and a great time seeing people at the reception.
