HPCC has certainly not "arrived." But in the midst of tragedy this week, something happened that reassured us that we are doing a few things well. I think that one way you know that your church is loving well is when people in the neighborhood call for help when there is a tragedy. Such was the case this week.
There were two tragedies this past week that both impacted our partner school and our community. We have had the opportunity to care for some families and school faculty this week in some practical ways. We've been able to care for people through prayer, concern and through use of our facility.
I wish neither of these events would have happened. But I'm thankful that many in our community view us as a group of people who will help this community - especially in times of need. We'll have opportunities this week and beyond to minister to people connected to these tragedies. We certainly don't always receive warm invitations to help during times of crisis, but we want to be ready for the times that we do.
I'd appreciate your prayers for the families, and particularly for Dave, as he will have some personal touches with one of the families this week.
